Contracts are worthless at this club other than for getting a payrise.

Re: SUMMER 2014 TRANSFER THREAD
Caulker is a good PL defender, 22, English and most likely available for a reasonable fee given Cardiff's relegation - I would be very surprised if he doesn't have offers from sides like Everton, Southampton and other decent clubs, not sure it's as simple as us or Cardiff even in the hypothetical.Gunnersaurus wrote:Sit on the bench for a CL team where you will get games or play in the Championship???northbank123 wrote:And you think Caulker is going to come and sit on our bench every week? I personally think Vermaelen is sufficient for back-up CB but if you're advocating replacing him you have to be realistic about the calibre of a replacement bench-warmer.
Let me think....
Vermaelen is sufficent when the threat of selling him to a rival is there, when its not he is a liability and very few would want him.anywhere near the first team.
If we could get Caulker I wouldn't mind seeing Vermaelen go although selling to United still makes me uneasy. But there's also the fact that it's yet another transfer to spend months bungling as well as needing a RB. GK and striker as a minimum.

So £10m for verm, £30m for santi and £5m for cesc...does that mean our so called "war chest" will go up to £145m?

I can go to £545m , the only certainty it will not be spent until a last minute "appeasement buy"silus wrote:So £10m for verm, £30m for santi and £5m for cesc...does that mean our so called "war chest" will go up to £145m?

Cleverly - plays like a retarded monkey that someone threw a ball at.
Nani - the fucking step over queen. Not so much FakeRonaldo-Lite as much as FakeRonaldo-Shite.
If I ever see Cleverly or Nani in an Arsenal jersey I will proceed upon a spree killing that would be unmatched to date in both it's brutality and body count.
Rest assured, God will not let this happen.

RUMOURS.
Money
Dissatisfaction with a manager who failed to sign Fabregas - a world class mid-fielder - (who Santi stated publicly he wanted us to sign) who has lost the plot
The "real Issue" for me is that IF Santi does leave...then that would be another BIG f*ck up by Wenger - he doesn't sign Cesc because he thinks we have too many similar type players in mid-field, only then to lose Santi - because of his lack of ability in the transfer market as a manager.

By 'God' you mean Denis Bergkamp right?

Quality Post mate - as long as that Body Count includes AKB's - who still insist on kneeling before Wenger like they want to give him the deepest BJ ever known to human kind.

I fail to see them signing someone who has clearly lost a yard of everything as strengthening them, if they signed Koscienly than we would have reason to be upset but most of us prayed that Koscienly and Mertersacker stayed fit last year so he could stay on the bemch as he was becoming a liability.augie wrote:Henry Norris 1913 wrote:this is just another stick to beat wenger with though, isn't it?
vermaelen leaving for united is akin to silvestre going to us. I actually think it's hilarious that they've started their summer business in this manner, he has to build a new defence and he signs someone who even wenger knows is past it. We'll make a couple of signings, they aren't going to be world class and everyone knows it but of course wenger will replace tv5 with someone of equal ability. I like to lambast wenger as much as anyone but I'm not really worried at this moment.
That is way OTT man - I like TV5 and feel sorry for him and understand his need to go, but to compare him to Silvestre goes way beyond offensive and disrespectful. The bottom line, and I argued this on here at the time, is that tv5 and kos cannot work together as a partnership because the balance wasn't right, but either of them with BFG would work - sadly for tv5 he got injured at a bad time so it allowed kos to build up that partnership with mert, but it could just as easy be kos who is out in the cold right now. The guy is tenacious in the tackle and is 100% committed but he needs someone like mertesacker to organise him and instill some defensive/positional discipline in his game.
If he goes to manure I will be very disappointed - not anywhere near the level of cesc joining chavs and not disappointed with the player himself, but disappointed that yet again we are willing to sell to our rivals and are not learning from our mistakes. As I said, I will be disappointed but definitely not shocked
I'm a big BFG fan but I would take hummels over any centre back we have - I firmly believe that without BFG marshalling kos he wouldn't be anywhere near the player that he is and maybe the French think the same cos he cant get his place ahead of the lumbering sakho

Whenever he starts for us we're basically a goal downfrom kick off. Whatever he had he'slost and on top of it he has no confidence anymore. As long as we don't get Smelling or Cleverly or Mani in the deal I don't see a problem.
Losing Santo is not an option unless we bring in someone of equal or better ability beforehand.

It's unlikely that Athletico could offer more money than what he is on at the moment. Athletico are a fraudulent mess of a club.OneBardGooner wrote:VAVAVOOM 14 wrote:Yes, but the point is why would someone who just signed a contract extension two months ago be uncertain over his future?kiwomya wrote:

Does anyone know how you go about getting someone sectioned?
If we don't buy back cesc, then sell santi and end up with cleverly... I don't think anybody can claim that wenger is a sane man!!!

It's actually so insane thought that it couldn't happen anywhere else than in present day Arsenal
