THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

But isnt this one game the exception that proves the rule?
That by not setting up like today more often over the years Wenger has cost us dearly and has been damaging the club with his ineptitude and/or stubbornness. Hes only done today what everybody has been calling out for, for feckin years.

Oh yes !! Twitter alive with them, one asking "where are the bannermen cu**s now ? "..If Arsenal had applied themselves in away games over the last five or so seasons ...then there would have been no banner.. Because today fell beautifully into place does not take from the misery of the past maulings in these big games. If anything it makes them even more frustrating. Because today we set up properly, we realised that there was another team on the pitch and we had to worry about them not just do our own thing in the stubborn belief that all would be ok. Also , and this has been a big issue on this forum for ages, today players played in their proper positions. Especially Santi , but you know what ? If that is mentioned often enough in the media watch Santi being banished to the left wing a quick as a Bould defensive plan goes to the bin.
Today was brilliant and brought back so many wonderful memories of the years when Arsenal won the impossible, BUT BUT BUT the question is bigger than the answer and that is Why the fuck has this taken so long for Wenger to see that we have to set up for games ?
Santi and Coquelin rightly getting praised but I thought Monreal was outstanding also. also the subs worked well, thought Rosicky brought a calm maturity to the team.

Think the DM went out the window after Coquelin got through two games without breaking down.

Think we'll have to sign a CB though.

Fair play, tactically spot on today. To be fair Shreeves asked some good questions afterwards about why it's takeb so long for this sort of approach.

Despite today's excellent performance I am still 110% against. Some are saying Arsene did tactics. Did any body else have the thought cross their mind when we came out in the second half and started to play like ill disciplined wankers again (Ramsay, you know who you are) that Wenger's team talk was "WTF are you doing? Why are you not pushing forward with the beautiful tippy tappy?"

This. The Dortmund game I alluded to on the match thread, the last time Wenker "did tactics", came just days before we reverted to type and meekly surrendered to Moyes and the worst Manure team in 25 years

The wenger haters don't know whether to laugh or cry.
It's hilarious, but I for one had a great day, great atmosphere in the pub.
I'm buzzing for next Sunday.
