I've now got my eye on the Novavax vaccine and may wait to see how that fairs once approved. It's all very confusing so you're not alone.nut flush gooner wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 10:21 amYour right, I've read this many times and my brain is now frazzled. Thought I understood but now not so sure.

When they talk about the people it doesn't work for, it factors in herd immunity I guess. So that isn't as much of an issue as if the disease was rampaging through the population.GoonerMuzz wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 11:27 amOne thing I have found slightly, no extremely worrying, is that not one politician, scientist, media whore or other individual has asked the question what about the 3-5% of people these vaccines dont work for? In the UK alone that is potentially between 2 and 3M people, worldwide up to 350M people..... I have seen absolutely nothing reported on how they are going to monitor/manage this issue, have these people been completely written off as acceptable losses![]()
Nope. The only way you can find out is by asking. Generally, pharmacies will be AZN as they can't store the Pfizer at the low temp required.
Sorry mate but that doesnt help the % of people in the extremely vulnerable group who will fall into the category of the vaccine not working, as i said it seems that those people are effectively being written off as acceptable casualties. There has been absolutely no mention of this anywhere and if it doesnt work for you the attitude seems to be from everyone suck it up buttercup, there has been no guidance or advice on this potentiality. Is anyone even asking these questions?nut flush gooner wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 12:21 pmWhen they talk about the people it doesn't work for, it factors in herd immunity I guess. Plus you got to remember that most vaccines don't 100% prevent getting you from infected, what they do is stop you from getting so sick you end up in hospital or dying. So it's like a cold or flu I guess as opposed to the nasty symptoms associated with full blown covid.
I am in the clinically vulnerable group, and my understanding is the vaccine is still efficacious just not at the levels prescribed in the trials. If that wasnt the case there would be no point in taking the vaccine.GoonerMuzz wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 5:02 pmSorry mate but that doesnt help the % of people in the extremely vulnerable group who will fall into the category of the vaccine not working, as i said it seems that those people are effectively being written off as acceptable casualties. Now the real testing starts. Best of luck NFG!nut flush gooner wrote: ↑Sun Jan 31, 2021 11:30 amAll done, very well organised and military-like. I take my hats off to the NHS for rolling this out over weekends as well.
No side effects so far, not even an aching arm.

My mum had her first jab yesterday and text all the kids as obviously happy about it, I echoed your sentiment above and said I will see if you grow a second head before I make my mind up about getting one when I eventually get my turn.
They are spread across the whole country, most of them won't contract covid when everyone else has been vaccinated and of those that do? Only a tiny % will die from it!GoonerMuzz wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 11:27 amOne thing I have found slightly, no extremely worrying, is that not one politician, scientist, media whore or other individual has asked the question what about the 3-5% of people these vaccines dont work for?
