Re: THE WENGER THREAD
If he beats the Southampton Galacticos into 4th spot with a team containing Ozil, Sanchez and Cazorla he would truly have outperformed the Saints and put Koeman in his place after the mega money deals for Pelle, Tadic and ManeBradywasking wrote:Not sure the problem is the team..flash gunner wrote:If he gets top four with this team and after the start it will be his greatest achievementSteveO 35 wrote:Wenger's greatest ever achievement is back on.......1 game, 1 game undefeated......1 game, 1 game I say.....

Only for his victim to then turn around and score a last minute equaliser.

A guy on Arsenal fan TV said he was thrown out of the stadium for standing up during tonight's game. Welcome to the modern day Arsenal

Even if Barca were allowed to buy I doubt Sanchez would head back to Barca where he was said not to have got on with Messi and sit on the bench as Neymar and Suarez make up the other two front three positions. Utter bullshit.clockender1 wrote:spanish press say Barca to make an offer to bring Alexis back in May.

You say that and I accept the point you are making, but what top quality player would want to remain part of this malaise ? When he (and ozil) joined us, there were obviously fed a pack of lies and thus committed themselves to what appeared to be a big club ambitious to join the elite again - realistically they joined a once big club that are treading water and going nowhere fast. The huge difference between sanchez and ozil is that sanchez has actually grown his reputation by his performances for us and if he wanted out, there would be no shortage of buyers

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I think both Ozil and Sanchez were squeezed out of bigger clubs than Arsenal.. Why else would they leave unless it was to join a club of similar stature..At the moment that would mean joining "the other" Spanish club or Bayern Munich..I cannot see either of them wanting to remain in the current situation even if Champions League qualification is secured.augie wrote:VAVAVOOM 14 wrote:Even if Barca were allowed to buy I doubt Sanchez would head back to Barca where he was said not to have got on with Messi and sit on the bench as Neymar and Suarez make up the other two front three positions. Wenger's comments on Monday confirm what he and the club see as achievement, that being defying the doubters up to the last day and qualifying for the cash cow. I think there would be no shortage of interest in either , I agree that Sanchez has grown in stature since joining us , being the main man as opposed to being another great player has suited him. A good tactical manager like Pep at Bayern would make Ozil a great player again. If Ozil leaves arsenal in the Summer the media and a lot of supporters will brand him a failure. I think the opposite , I think he will have been failed by his manager. I do accept that at times (Anfield last season) he has looked disinterested and lazy.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I cant convey enough how having Walcott in the side weakens us more than it strengthens,
As you know ive never been a fan, but unless he is played purely in a central "free" role he creates many more problems than in solves. He doesn’t stay in his channels - drifting inside where there is no chance of getting the ball / unlikely he will get it, he doesn’t protect the full back, he doesn’t work, he exposes the full backs and draws cockles (or whoever is in that role) out to his wing to cover the enourmous spaces he has left.
It was obvious in the opening 10 minutes Leicester were exposing Bellerin because he had no protection, the whole team became lop-sided.
Sure he scores goals, but is that enough? Im not sure it is when the rest of the team have to do so much extra work for him. He was qualities, but is he worth in he position as one of our top earners?
His contract will be an issue soon, I can see him leaving for a big fee in the summer and I don’t think that would be the worst thing in the world to happen

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
it amazes me there was criticism from the media / some fans for dropping Theo on Saturday - in a big away game he will never start unless injuries dictate because he cant be trusted.
He has attributes for sure, but i dont think we will renew his contract unless he drops down a few levels in pay, so that leads to a summer exit.
