Like that reviewer I found myself 'torn' I hate all the nationalistic flag waving bullshit - from any of the western powers etc - However I am also aware that the extremists are Not going to simply go away - They speak of the 1,000 year war...it has already begun to infiltrate into western cultures and countries by the simple fact that thousands upon thousands of immigrants are pouring into the UK - and many have no job, no home, many cannot even speak English - i know from first hand as I work on the front line dealing with illegal immigrants every day - and some have genuine horror stories of being persecuted, tortured and have had to flee in order not to be murdered, but the majority are here simply to get what they can for nothing - we ain't waving we are drowning....and at some point the dam will break and there is every chance of prolonged rioting and racist attacks on every street in every city and borough...all it takes is one dumb fuck to light the fuse and there will be serious and I mean SERIOUS problems - Public Order will become impossible to maintain...it is well scary.
But back to the fillum - I think it may just do some good in the way it has got people thinking and hopefully talking instead of just sitting on their behinds.

OBG I agree with your assessment of things just needing the fuse to be lit. I am 30 years old. Before I die, i fully expect to see a full blown WWIII. You can feel it building, unfortunately.

I read Kyle's book and it was a decent enough read. But he was a very rigid patriotic American, to a fault. His references to the effect the war was having on the innocent local Iraqis were few and read as being something he might have felt he needed to include for "balance". But his descriptions of his role in the conflict, and the often life or death decisions snipers in particular face, were rivetting at times.

But he was what he was. A warrior. And people with that warrior mentality view the world (and most importantly, conflict) a lot differently than most of the rest of the world do.

You also have to remember that his reference (in the book at least) to "savages" was not regarding Iraqi civilians but enemy Jihadist combatants. This was at a time when these Jihadis were torturing local Iraqis to death with drills, welders, knives, saws, screwdrivers and oxy-acetylene torches.

His death (at the hands of a fellow war vet that he was trying to help beat PTSD) was both tragic and horrifically ironic.

Absolutely spot on, some good moments, some comedy gold.
