THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

i remember that there was always a couple of gooners that got on a stoke i think ?
No, I'm not that old  1996 was my first Arsenal home game, and in 1997 dad and I joined the old ticket registration scheme and went on the train to most home league and cup games. Before '97, it was always away games in the north west and north east.

In any case, we'd get on at Lancaster, not Stoke. We lived in the Lake District.

Very hard, as ManUre showed when borrowing in that period you normally get prohibitively bad rates.
they have ENORMOUS income compared to us, they should be an internationally dominant force in the market
they are not, and won't be any time soon

Maybe you didn't want us to borrow. Instead of borrowing
- We could just have had a lower wage bill
(its the high wage bill that means we have to sell to balance our books)
in which case our very best players would have left earlier anyway,
many would in fact have left before they were even our best players
or just never signed in the first place

Missing the CL just once would probably have meant additional sales.
and yes as far as I'm concerned gloryhunters is a fair tag for non-Islington fans who decide to follow a foriegn team
and express hatred for a great manager because we havent won enough

suck it up gloryhunter boys
The WUM finally completes his transformation into Baba.

Fantastic stuff - all I ever thought and more. That little hissy fit has made my day :D :barscarf:

I'll never, ever respond to the WUM's Joey Bartonesque ramblings any more. Rise above it chaps and let the self-appointed superfan have his bit of fun, otherwise he'll be bragging about it down at youth club tonight

Red was banned for much, much less. Red was a silly, naive, teenager imo.

This tool actively seeks out people to argue with to prove what an educated, well travelled and cultured superfan he is resulting in almost every thread being ruined by his up-himself, vague, incoherent, nonsense. He posts his complete nonsense only to wind people up and cause arguments and needs to be banned I'm afraid.

How many posters does he have to argue with? How many vague wind up posts must we endure? How many vanity threads have we to put up with? How many threads is he allowed to ruin? How much self-centered drivel have we to read? FFS enugh is enough. :(

Most of the time I dont mind him either and I do feel that he does actually believe what he is saying (as opposed to being a wum) but that comment disappointed me more than angered me - I'm not the type of guy that feels the need to justify my Gooner allegiance's so I dont feel less of a Gooner when someone says that but I would have expected more of him tbh but if he feels that way then that is entirely up to him and I wont lose a seconds sleep worrying about it 8)

Thats where I have to disagree. His posts are arrogant, condescending and deliberately vague and unintelligible. How can he believe what hes saying when what hes saying makes absolutely no sense? :?

I don't think its a self imposed ban as such - its more down to the fact that he set off at 4am this morning in barefeet walking over 10 miles of broken glass through a torrential storm, where he then sought to complete his mission to hitch-hike to Villa Park via Inverness, with only a Thermos flask and a picture of Islington Town Hall to keep him company on his heroic voyage

If you stop winding him up he might come on here and tell us all about it - I can't wait.

Amen brother, finally a voice of reason on here, I'd almost given up all hope 8)

Tis why my last game was the Champs Lge final 2006. Simples.
Not bothered if everyone see's me as an armchair, cos that is what I am now, and shall remain until my club is returned to me/us.
Going to Leyton Orient gives me a bigger buzz.

Steady there armchair. Although I fully understand why you'd be impressed with my Intelligence, football knowledge, wit and song writing ability, that could be considered a bit weird by others mate.

I think it is possible to idolize someone that you actually turn into them actually.

For example, I twisted my ankle going into the office today, have told my employer that I'm "three maybe four weeks away" from returning to which he replied "SteveO, don't worry you twinkle-toed genius. Take a year off and a pay rise"

Now that you mention it, wouldn't it be great to have a boss like highbury jd, I mean Wenger jd, I mean Wenger.
"Sorry I didn't turn up yesterday, I was feeling a little jaded due to my mid-week european break"

"Couldn't finish that report boss due to special circumstances"

"Look, I know you think I've done fuck all today but thats just an illusionary domination because you lack the necessary mental strength"
