Also no one has said about Almunia's save. It doesn't make up for his other errors but still a decent save.

On my way back to gods country (Ireland ) now and I have to say that the first half was absolutely woeful both from the players and the fans and you could literally feel the pressure in the air. Second half was a big improvement all round and we deserved the win. 8)

Thought clichy answered his critics tonight with a very good performance especially after getting harshly booked. Arshavin's class stood out like a beacon in the first half as he threaded through so many great passes a la Bergkamp.

On the flip side I was very unhappy with nasri who I thought wasnt interested even before his injury. :( Theo was theo  Bedtner was woeful both with his first touch and in the air as he was destroyed by their defence :o

Anyway a crucial win and a few days to hopefully help arshavin and co to recover from their injuries

Gallas man of the match for me. Fantastic last ditch tackle on Ngog. Theo looked like a lad that has never kicked a ball before - he now appears to habe lost his ability to even run with the ball at his feet, how many times is that now he has over run the ball in the last couple games alone? Bizarre.

Great goal from Diaby who actually played quite well. Eboue is still pants with no end result but at least he has a run at defenders and at least he tries. But he is still just a very poor to average footballer.

Gerard really is a disgrace isn't he? Thought Bendtner was unlucky with the booking - the replays showed there was contact but I think if you flail your arms on the way down some refs will think "Dive".

Fabregas was poor. Maybe his head is still down after Sunday? Maybe the stories of the pre-deal with the Barcawhores were true and in his head he's already left us? Fucked if I know but that's the poorest I've seen him all season.

Oh - the Sky commentary was appalling. Andy fucking Grey should just get done with it and propose a threesome with himself, "Clever" Stevie G and "Cara".

Arsehole. :banghead:

My MOTM was Gallas, great tackle that. Bould of old.

It's how we win now, not pretty football. Apprantly I was told last night, we cannot drop a single point if we are to win the PL... :?

What do you make of your lots result tonight (bearing in mind Chelsea lost) 2 points dropped or one point gained?
One point gained mate. We played most of the game with just 10 players and it was away at Villa who have a very good defensive record this season. If Chelsea had won/drawn it wouldn't have been such a great result mind you.

Title race is definately on with United, Chelsea and Arsenal all in the mix.

Forget Liverpoo though, they're predictable sideways passing, long ball football is never going to win shit.

Very funny. 8) Although I have to say I thought Eboue was good tonight - and I am his biggest critic. Nothing silly defensively and added pace and urgency going forward. Well played. 8)
I agree.

But did you see that cross? Theo would have been proud of that one :D

Clichy worries me, he looks terribly suspect.

Eboue played well I thought, and for once Wenger got his tactics spot on second half.

6 points behind, not too shaby

great result yesterday! Especially with the chavs and the mancs droping points.

Those who say the first half was woeful. I'd rather have a first half like yesterday than the first half at home against the chavs, where the game was over after 30 min!
Almunia made a great save and I still have a hard time believing he did this.
Diaby had a good performance. He's showing a lot of progress and even though one of these days he will be erratic again, I believe he will become more and more consistant.

I would like to raise a point on Clichy though. What is going on with him? On nani's goal last week, nani began his run 2 meters behind clichy, and ended up in front of him... That's just an example, but... Since WHEN does clichy is being caught up? I remembered him as one of the fastest left back on the planet, but since his injury he looks very slow. What's up with him?

Bender... He's a nice guy, but... Errrr.... In fact it's all I can find to say: Bender's a nice guy.

Very happy about our victory though

Without a doubt, he was immense last night & made a number of crucial blocks/tackles. I thought that was it when Ngog was bearing down on goal until Willy popped up with a perfect tackle :barscarf:

Like others have said, the first half was pretty damn lifeless both on the pitch & in the stands. Second half much better though & it was nice to see us grind out a classic 1-0 to The Arsenal.

Credit where it's due last night. Not a great game, not a great performance but an important result ground out. I still think we are a couple of points too far away to mount a proper challenge.

When will Gerrard be taken to task for his diving? Bendtner gets booked for something that still looks a foul, Gerard throws himself down time and again and nothing.

You know you're in a real bad patch of form when Dirk fucking Kuyt is giving you the run around.
