Crossing was so off, Chamakh will start getting the hump if it doesnt improve. May as well have played with 10 men or put Gunnersaurus on instead. Jack outstanding again, would have loved that volley of his which hit the bar to go in. Woulda been a sweet goal.

To conclude, better teams will do us over if we continue to switch off after scoring a couple. Had it not been for Samaras ballooning a penalty out onto Holloway Road we would have looked like right mugs.

Rumour has it you were also sat next to a very nice person!
It's quite obvious he was!

Now was he correct in his analysis of the match?

Couldn't have asked for better company, shame our attempts to get a few songs going fell on deaf ears :(

that's cos the place was full of tourists! And don't get me started on the stupid Mexican waves! Fair Play to the Celtic for not joining in with such a childish thing!

Here is the player's ratings from the Islington Tribune

MANUEL ALMUNIA 7 Good shot-stopping but still looks nervous at corners.

BACARY SAGNA (Eboue 63) 7 A rare goal to celebrate. Never troubled in defence.

GAEL CLICHY (Gibbs 63) 7 Tougher tests await.

JOHAN DJOUROU 7 Confident performance but must wait to see if he is a first choice.

THOMAS VERMAELEN (Kosceilny 74) 8 Looking more and more Adams-like by the match.

EMMANUEL FRIMPONG 6 Short of the stability offered by Alex Song. Loan deal likely.

JACK WILSHERE 8 Silly foul gave away penalty but clearly a top talent. Needs a chance.

THEO WALCOTT 7 Frustrating end product.

TOMAS ROSICKY (Nasri 45) 6 Flicks and tricks but not at the races.

JAY EMMANUEL-THOMAS (Vela 45) 6 Missed the chance to impress here.

CARLOS VELA (Arshavin) 7 Touches of class seen today but consistency needed.

SUBS

SAMIR NASRI 8 Came off the bench and scored within minutes

MAROUANE CHAMAKH 6 Anonymous second half from new signing.

ANDREY ARSHAVIN 7 Clearly not at full throttle but always a threat.

EMMANUEL EBOUE 7 Committed.

KIERAN GIBBS 7 A primosing understudy.

LAURENT KOSCIELNY 6 Mugged for the ball by Samaras once or twice.

MAN OF THE MATCH: JACK WILSHERE

Bollocks to that. Rosicky looked fresh and played some good stuff. To rank him as joint worst performer of the day is ludicrous.

Generous in your ratings for Djourou, Frimpong, JET, Gibbs & Eboue.
Plus I agree with BBP, Tomas set the tempo of the game and looked lively thoughout.

What is up with that. If I apy a couple fo grand to come support Arsenal I have no-interest in such silly crap really. Please tell me that's NOT part of the Arsenalisation because watching it is provides less than nothing to the atmosphere.

Fully agreed. I've never understood why anyone thinks he's anything but a complete pile of shit.

Not only has he not got a football brain, it's debatable as to whether or not he has a brain.
You seem jealous.
He earns tons of cash, has a fit girl and comes across as humble and thoughtful when interviewed.

He was not very sharp today but his runs caused openings and he had two assists.
There have been games when he has looked out of it, but he at least runs and tries.
Think he will have an ok season.

Walcott is a striker not a winger. Blame the manager not the player.

Everyone's crying out for a top striker. Walcott has the exact attributes that Michael Owen had. Give the lad a game is his preferred role.

This bullshit that he can't cross the ball, only runs forward blah blah. That's cause he's forced into a role he is trying to adapt to. He made his name (as a 15-year-old) as a out-an-out striker playing on the last defender yet Arsene Wenger has ruined the young man.

I know most young talent played elsewhere on the park than the positions they play now, but, they were thought how to during their youth system and if they didnt adapt well they got sent home at 17 or 18. Walcott is trying to achieve that in the Arsenal 1st team. Disgraceful management.

I usually find it hard to criticise Wenger (unlike most people) but he has fcuked Walcott right up. I hope for the players sake he moves on to a club that will appreciate his footballing talent.

Sadly the premier league has change and indeed defending against Arsenal has also changed. No one plays high up the pitch like they used to, something which allowed players like Henry to flourish.

The fact is Theo has to learn to do more than run and if not then believe me he will be more than useless against the teams who just want to seat and defend against us.

Look around the prem and you will find very few small striker and the ones that are, are either strong and skilled like Tevez or are clinical poacher like Defoe.

If Theo cant beat a man one-one on the flanks then how will he do it in the center when he has less time to achieve it and create a goal scoring chance for himself.

Successful small strikers have to be alot more than runners in this day and age.

IMO Theo had a good game yesterday but he need to work on his first touch and end product because he cant just kick a ball into space and hope.

I agree with most of that M-50, but as I have asked elsewhere, in that case why doesn't he shoot more? Too often he tries to pick someone out in positions where he should shoot, whereas a natural striker would be looking to hit the target.

Not sure the comparison with Owen is quite right, apart from the pace, as the scouse Welshman/Englishman was a much more selfish and clinical finisher, with a better anticipation of where the right place to be was.

Fair point GunnerDude.

I thought he performed reasonably well yesterday also. I suppose the argument is I would like to see him been given the chance through the middle. We've had 6-7 games now in recent weeks where he could have been tried out again in that area.
