Transfer Rumours Thread
Lots of rumours that the Swiss goalie, Benaglio, is going to the Premier League.
More interesting to us is that he might just be going to The Arsenal.
Brilliant keeper, imo, and won Wolfsburg the Bundesliga in 2009.
Also re Defoe - he's a gooner, and would score a sackful with the chances we could create for him. Slight concern over his chaviness, but if we were getting him as a replacement for Bendy, with another super-super striker also coming in, then I would be very happy.

He claims to be a sports journalist, currently "on holiday" (out of a job) and looking for work. He's said that he's written for Italian publications and done some work in Brazil. He's been talking up the transfer for over a week now, just have to wait and see I suppose.QuartzGooner wrote:My google search of "Marco Silva" through up some varied results.OnlyGotOneSong wrote:Wednesday, Gervinho to sign according to Marco Silva on twitter.
Dont shoot the messenger.
But Gervinho is very much a Wenger type of player, and has been in good form lately.

I wouldn't mind if we signed Defoe...he's a bit of a tosser but as others have said he is the type of forward we need.
You can't judge him on how many goals he has scored this season as he has been injured for a lot of it, put him in the team regular he'll score goals, undoubted..
He's the fox in the box that we don't have, but also has the pace and sharpness to run at and behind defences..he's very direct and has only one objective, hitting the back of the net..He would be a refreshing change to our current predictable indirect style...buy him..

Agreed 1,000& DB - The thing is we cannot help ourselves but keep alive that dim *and dying) tiny spark of "Hope" that AW just might get his head out of the sand and his arse in gear and Do Something....
Yeeeaaahh I know...But that's hope for ya!
I see a lot of people have been (admittedly with justice) slagging Nasri off....
But apparently another reason he is dragging his heels over a new contract is because he (also - like all of us ) wants some wonga spent on new players.....
From this mornings Gaurdian:
"Samir Nasri wants to see Arsène Wenger make a serious impact on the summer transfer market before he considers committing his future to Arsenal.
The France midfielder is at impasse over his new contract talks, having deemed the club's offer of around £90,000 a week, which has been on the table for some weeks, to be insufficient. The stand‑off has led to angst and frustration at the club.
But while Nasri wants more money, he is equally keen to see Wenger add big names to a squad that fell apart when the trophies beckoned at the business end of this past season. Nasri, whose own fine form slumped in the final months, is similar to many of the club's supporters in the respect that he feels Wenger has to buy some proven talent.
Nasri has entered the final 12 months of his contract and, while it has been unfortunate that Arsenal have allowed the situation to develop, it is worrying that the 23‑year‑old has now spoken of the interest in him from Manchester United, who are in the market for a creative midfielder following the retirement of Paul Scholes. It could be that Nasri is using United as a bargaining chip. Wenger, though, has made it clear that he would not contemplate selling the player to the Old Trafford club."

Undoubtedly that's part of it, Ade did the same...OnlyGotOneSong wrote:Nasri may have been using the Man United interest to engineer a higher wage in his new contract.
But i have no doubt he would love to go to United, firstly because he would see more chance of silverware their, secondly because he would be progressing to a bigger club and thirdly because he would probably get to play the role he would prefer in the team....
This happens nearly every year with us now, a player has a good few months, attracts the attention of the big boys, then greenmails us at the end of the season..The players are in a win win situation, get us to pay them more than they are worth or go to a bigger club and get more money than they are worth...it's the perfect scenario for a player....
