The Ox sounds like an intelligent lad.

He currently stands out a potential diamond amongst a bunch of boulders.

I'll take the 3 points, although it's not the greatest of performances I am not as depressed as most of the people on here.

Ches - Solid performance again.

Santos - Getting fitter as time goes on. I really like this guy

Mertesacker - Needs to form a central defensive partnership, must be impossible to settle in when playing with a different centre back every other game.

Song - Did well, looked better than he does in defensive midfield

Sagna - The Belgian kid (Mairelles??) game him the run around, but he covered well when he could

Seems weird when we looked so shaky at the back to give those players the reviews I have but I really think it's the system that's killing them.

The Ox - Promising CL debut. Tired towards the end of the game, but happy

Rosicky - :(

Frimpong - Much better than Song here. Couple of weak touches but his tackling is first rate.

Arshavin - Tracking back he's rubbish, but I still like him going forward. He needs to get fit, no doubt.

Arteta - Reminds me of Alastair Cook, just totally calm at all times. Not the Cesc replacement but a really good buy.

Chamakh - Really needs a goal or goals, or lots of goals.

Pat Rice - Good, loved the tactical sub to take off Arshavin. He may not like being in charge, but he doesn't show it

[quote="topcat"]Marseille 3-0 Borussia Dortmund.

I find that quite worrying for our next game. :?[/quote

Ayew who scored two tonight got sent off so will miss next game against us. A draw will be a good result.

Very disappointed! Good for first half hour then we just reverted to same old!

Arshavin = fucking shit lazy fat bastard
Frimbongo = dreadful passing and the fouling stupid
Rosiky = fucking awful
Sagna = not a good night
Meatsucker = kick the ball anywhere didn't get one header at the corners, mind you the corners were fucking awful!

Aaah fuck this, we were terrible, gonna get murdered Sunday!

very good win

oxlade chamberlain - promising
santos - competition for Gibbs at left back
mertesacker - improving steadily
arteta - experience vital

but apart from these positives even i have 2 words for Chamakh - FUCK OFF

No, it was his brother who was sent off.

First half we were playing with 8 men because Arshavin, Rosicky and Chamakh did absolutely nothing. Sorry, Chamakh managed to shank his only chance.

Arshavin seemed to be a bit more up for it second half till he went off.

Second half, Rosicky continued to be awful and Chamakh was again useless.

Mertesacker I liked because he broke play up, got his foot in and didn't mess about with clearing the ball out of danger. Notice that for most of their corners and attacking free-kicks they chose not to pump it into the box. Song is good at CB as others have said and if Frimpong can play DM why risk the uselessnesses of Djourou or Squillaci if Koscielny isn't fit? In fact Song might be better than Kos anyway.

I thought Santos looked rubbish until he scored when his play improved.

Arteta again good, I only wish that he would turn up the pitch more when he receives the ball rather than back toward our goal which leads to the inevitable backward or sideways pass. If Arteta can get on the front foot more he'll go a long way to filling the hole left by Cesc. But I think Arteta has a better attitude.

Ox looks good it has to be said. Long way to go before I start drooling over him though. Been let down too many times by Wenger wunderkind.

Frimpong is a rough diamond. Just need a bit of trimming and polishng and he'll be a very valuable player.

Overall not a great performance, but a win and there were some positives. But you can't get away from the fact that we have fallen backwards.

Have to say the defending for their goal was appaling. What is being taught to the players when they do set piece training because they were all caught ball watching when their player was played onto the byline and then they all proceded to move away from their man leaving half their team with free headers :?

Looked to me like the curse of zonal marking in all it's glory. The oppo goal scorer was "marked" by AA23 on the edge of our box. When he started his run AA23 just stood there and let him run unchallenged into someone else's "zone". So no one took responsibility to get at him and he just ran in onto a free header. Pathetic. It takes top top players and defenders to make zonal marking work. We don't have enough of either.

Overall a win is a win, but if we defend like that against a half decent team we are fucked. :(

If by trimming and polishing you mean he should learn to do the basics of his position, ie track a man all the way into the box and make sure he is the right side of the ball when the opposition break on us, then yeah, that boy has a hell of a future. :?

Would also add learning not to just lunge blindly into so many "tackles" giving away needless silly fouls.

But he's young enough to learn. 8)
