Re: pre season games match thread.
it's now pretty clear that redmember's posts are designed purely to get a reaction
I actually thought Jenkinson was looking OK (saved Vermaelen once when he insanely stepped up for offside)
then he fell to bits - caught badly out of position twice in a few minutes
unfortunately for him both errors were punished with goals
Gervinho looks much the same as he always had, reminds me of a quick Paulo Wanchope
can be hard to deal with at times but only cos you can't predict those who aren't in control of what they're doing
requires huge improvement to make it at the Arsenal
Santos and Walcott were OK but struggled to be continually involved - the ball didnt stick up front enough. Chamakh came on to do that but he never spins in behind after his layoffs - just not dangerous
Song was absolutely terrible in the 1st half but did improve substantially in the 2nd
Bartley and Vermaelen were OK, no better than that (Verminator better going forward than doing his job)
was surprised by Gibbs who I thought was decent (2nd goal from his trackback tackle a bit unlucky IMO)
Flappy not at fault for either goal
surprised to hear criticism of Diaby, was quite solid IMO
actually better than Arteta who looked really rusty
Ox off the bench looked easily the best player on the park
can't remember other subs doing much (and if we aren't gonna sign another striker we're going to need some memorable stuff from Afobe)
terrible conditions, pre-season friendly with our strikeforce at home v the Champions
we dominated possession and they got a bit lucky to score 2 in a few minutes burst

In terms of ability Gervinho isn't fit to lace Wanchope's boots.highburyJD wrote:...

Gervinho is surely the most brainless player to have worn the famous red and white jersey.
