If you're just going to talk about goalscoring then look at Bent's last 4 seasons or so - his strike rate is miles better than Giroud's despite playing for relegation-threatened clubs. Not saying for a minute we should have signed him but don't defend Giroud because he scores a few goals then slag off Bent.

I'm sick of people saying it's unfair to compare him to van Persie, Henry and even Wright. Yes, he was never going to be as good as those, and that might not be his fault, but when people are trying to justify his place in the team and the squad then it makes perfect sense to compare him to our lead strikers of the past two decades.

And 11 goals in 33 games as the striker of a team playing 4-5-1 (therefore less creative responsibility on him) isn't good enough either imo, first season or not. Despite often being benched or injured and being generally shit since he got his new contract, Feo has managed to net 11 times in the league. To be joint-14th top scorer having played nearly every game for a team in 3rd position is not a good return, and his paltry 4 assists hardly provide good background reading.

The stats that he's been defended on are really not that good.
It wasn't my intention to open a full debate on Darren Bent but I'd be surprised if he has scored more than Giroud in the last 3 or 4 years mate. I actually don't disagree that Giroud has been pretty poor, I was just saying that certain fans wanted far worse players.

Of course :barscarf: but seriously JD, it was quite a game    - Fulham down to 10 men for 80 minutes, yet had more shots and chances... in fact, I'm not sure their keeper had to make a save all game? :? it was sideways passing at it's extreme... we were scared stiff of conceding so forgot to attack

Anyway, it's results that count and today's was vitally important :barscarf:

Ah right. Its a completely valid point, loads of people on here were fuming we missed out on Dempsey, and there have been loads of others.

For the record I'm sure Bent has got into double figures last few seasons (despite a few long injuries and stuff) and definitely at least one with about 24 league goals. I think its crazy he's not been played this year, despite the collective boner over Benteke Bent would have still scored plenty of goals in that shit team.

I don't recall many people wanting Dempsey. Those who did probably had really low expectations, which is fair enough when you look at the shite that we have signed in the past 3 years.

Another by the skin of out teeth victory again. At least Poldi will get to be our main man upfront, unless AW tkes the p*ss and has Forehead as lone striker against Manure :banghead: .

As far as today's performance goes

Sczeszny Good
BFG Good to Very Good
Koscielny Good
Sagna Good
Rambo Goodish

Everybody else was f**king garbage. The last 10 mins before time added on was embarrassing and a disgrace for a team wanting to play in the champions league.

Bar Monreal picking up from where he left off against Everton, the defence were blameless for the f*ck up that was today's performance.

AW going on about nervousness is complete BS. The players collectively giving the ball away were all senior professionals. They spent that final nerve racking 10 mins playing like complete strangers.

Play like that against Judas FC next week and the humiliation of the 8-2 will become 2-8....except I doubt we will even get 2. Fulham were the better team and thank f**k Sian Massey is the best lino in the league or we would have lost today.

I'm sure if you trawled back you'd find plenty. Most likely with what a steal he was followed by the head-banging icon.

Anyway, I can complain about Giroud the other 364 days of the year, despite doing our best to throw away the lovely gift Sidwell gave us today we won and when Citeh take 3 points tomorrow at The Swamp I plan on sitting there with a large whisky in one hand and a smile on my face. And possibly my cock in the other hand. We'll play that by ear.

You do realise you could be doing that while Sky are showing a picture of Tevez/Monkey boy/Greedy/Nasri. If that doesn't give you erectile f**king dysfunction nothing ever will

Yep, really noticed that some of the body language today when there was a break in play was shocking. Shoulders down, skulking around, not speaking to each other...

For the record I would still sign darren bent for Arsenal in the morning - his pace and goals would be massive for a team that doesnt have enough of either and just cos he aint getting much playing time at villa (cos they have to pay more money when he makes a certain amount of appearances) does not make him a bad striker

Jesus are we last on MOTD? I would of thought batte=le for the top 4 would be more significant than Norwich v an inevitable relegated Reading.
