Re: The January Transfer Rumours Thread
Metro must get their rumours directly from caughtoffside.com
As if Cech would move from being Chelsea's number 2 to ours.

Thank fuck for LVG then - it appears he will do more to help us during the next transfer window than There's Only One....

Wenger over rewarding a young player who had achieved nothing and then developed an arrogant streak? Put in the file marked 'Bendtner'mcdowell42 wrote:SteveO 35 wrote:Metro must get their rumours directly from caughtoffside.com

Mourinho would piss his pants at the thought of selling us Petr Cech. Maybe for £5m when he's 37, blind in one eye and has perennial injury problems.SteveO 35 wrote:Wenger over rewarding a young player who had achieved nothing and then developed an arrogant streak? Aside from the utter arrogance and his flat-lining performances over the past few years, what is the need for us to give the likes of Szczesny a bumper deal? It's a nice little PR line that players are given bumper deals to 'reward' them, realistically players are given contracts based on what's needed to keep them at the club. No better club than us will be lining up to poach him from us and he's not likely to be pulling in that sort of money elsewhere.
Another example of Wenger's self-imposed financial constraints, spunking away stupid money.

Just as bear shits in the wood.....
Manchester United plan to beat Arsenal to the signing of Borussia Dortmund and Germany centre-back Mats Hummels, 25, in a £47m deal next summer. (Daily Star)

Arsenal are among the clubs interested in signing Newcastle's England Under-20 winger Rolando Aarons, 19. (Daily Star)
At least he's working on sorting out the positions we need the most

Even by oil money standards spending around £200-250 million in two windows would be unprecedented from ManUre.

This would give Arsene the horn. Handing bumper paydays to our rivals' ex players late in their careers gets him off.northbank123 wrote:...selling us Petr Cech. Arsenal are preparing to hijack Liverpool's bid to bring Benfica's Maxi Pereira to England. The Uruguayan defender is out of contract in Lisbon at the end of the season, alerting clubs across Europe to the prospect of a cut-price deal in January. (Daily Express)

Arsenal’s chances of landing Sami Khedira have all but disappeared with the player now needed to replace the injured Luka Modric until the end of the season, when he will leave Real Madrid on a free transfer. Even then, the Gunners could lose out to Bayern Munich or Chelsea. (Daily Mail)
Arsenal are also in danger of missing out on Bayer Leverkusen star Lars Bender after Barcelona joined the race for the midfielder's signature. (Daily Express)
This is more like it - top class players in a position we most need them......and of course "set to miss out"
With Khedira and Bender set to be the 2 holding midfielders in our Virtual XI, the virtual treble is on the cards

We should have got Bender 4 years ago,Arshavin,Bender as a midfield duo would have amused me no-end,SteveO 35 wrote:Arsenal’s chances of landing Sami Khedira have all but disappeared with the player now needed to replace the injured Luka Modric until the end of the season, when he will leave Real Madrid on a free transfer.
