Re: Swansea Thread
Kos is a great sweeper, but in the box his concentration and positioning are woeful. He's cost us a few goals recently. Any form of challenge would have made Gomis' job almost impossible.

His reading of the long williams ball in the first half was nothing short of diabolical - he twisted and turned a couple of times when the ball was coming towards him and if it wasnt for ospina's sharpness in coming to head the ball clear, then we would have conceded a lot earlier than the 85th minute. I'm not defending BFG as such cos he has made a few serious mistakes this season, but it seems to me that kos's fcuk ups get overlooked more often than not

I looked at their line up last night and I specifically looked for gomis cos ssn had reported that he was back from injury earlier in the day - my kids couldnt understand why I was more interested in swansea's subs than in their starting 11, but I reminded them that he is a big physical striker (the kind we hate

Who was the other guy? Monreal? Between them no challenge, nothing!GranadaJoe wrote:Kos is a great sweeper, but in the box his concentration and positioning are woeful. He's cost us a few goals recently. Any form of challenge would have made Gomis' job almost impossible.
As was noted earlier, as soon as we get in the position to firm something up, we take a tumble. Which gives us the chance to "show our mental strength" and "come back stronger".

OK thanks, most of us had 3+ away credits so we didn't have to chance the ballot, but still have a few mates on the lookout. You?
do you think Usmanov will work with Redaction if he becomes the owner of Arsenal ?
has anyone from Redaction had tickets outside normal allocations from Arsenal for ANY Arsenal match ?
what are the latest initiatives to improve the atmosphere ?
it was dire in the first half last night despite the centre on the North Bank trying to start songs

Re: Swansea Thread
I imagine if the Arsenal players were still on the pitch now and the Swansea players were back in Wales Arsenal would still find it hard to break them down. Maybe Mourinho was right, forget about the goalposts , just keep the ball.
As the game went on I thought we are not going to score here, never thought they would but that's Arsenal for you. Ramsey frustrates beyond belief when played wide right. Not his fault and for all his faults surely Walcott would have got more joy going outside the full back. Our front five of Ramsey, Ozil, Sanchez, Carzola and Giroud seemed to pop up everywhere and anywhere.
Fluidity of movement is great in football when accompanied by the end product of a Messi finding himself one on one with a keeper and one inevitable outcome. When , as it did last night, simply involves recycling the ball then it becomes tedious and pointless. Possession is the blindest statistic in football, it tells you nothing unless you want it to.
I have often spoken up for Giroud but the last two Monday nights in victory and defeat have again shown him up as being a level B striker when it requires level A to win the biggest prizes. Missed a chance but in the bigger picture does it matter where you finish in a one horse race when you were never that horse.?

Re: Swansea Thread
Just a couple of questions:
Swansea didn't have the full allocation, did they?
And were tickets grade b or c price?

Re: Swansea Thread
How many times have we conceded a goal to a ball stood up to the back post and have one of our full backs beasted by a big centre forward? Stereotypical Arsenal goal to concede.

Luckily. we don't any more such centre forwards to play against this season.rodders999 wrote:How many times have we conceded a goal to a ball stood up to the back post and have one of our full backs beasted by a big centre forward? Stereotypical Arsenal goal to concede.

Agreed. I know people get a little frustrated after we lose but a bit of perspective is needed here.g88ner wrote:SteveO 35 wrote:The end of season 4th place panic is here to stay.....defeat at OT and Rodders the 4th place trophy dream is alive once more

It is funny. And typical Arsenal![]()
Still can't see us throwing it away though. We only need 4 points, and have WBA and Sunderland at home. Even if we lose at OT, I reckon we'll scrape it to 3rd.
We're still 3rd. Everyones talking like we'll lose at OT but a draw/win and we wont finish lower than 3rd.
Whats to say City wont get beat at Swansea?

Swansea came with a game plan mate and we couldn't beat it.
Problem is Wengers lack of tactics. Any manager worth his salt will come to us and set up just like Swansea/Chelsea and they will get a result because Wenger hasn't got the know how to beat it.
Whether you think its boring or not has fuck all to do with it. Its all about getting a result not playing the most number of passes.
We're all pissed off with the result but good luck to em, they came with a plan and it came off.

I don't know that frustration is felt that much anymore - when we concede like we did last night, my emotion doesn't really change from how it was in the previous 85 minutes. We play tippy tappy football with no penetration and no tempo for the vast majority of the game and then get caught with the opposition's only chance.......it is a story that I have seen many, many times before with this team so it barely registers with me anymore

Absolutely, and our focus should be on how we played and not how the opposition played - some fans seem to think that the opposition should come and play expansive football against us even if it costs them 3pts

what about that Beast "Benteke" ?????
For sure he will rag doll BFG (Big Fuckin' Girlie) and flatten Kos and swat Monreal like a mosquiuto.....
If we play against the villans like we played against swansea - they WILL beat us.
We won the cup last year - we were lucky - This is the villans BIGGEST game for years and years and years.....be worried...be VERY Worried fellow Gooners.

Re: Swansea Thread
Absolute gold on the Guardian comments section:
It's about time points were awarded for style, flair, and possession. It's not right that Arsenal are not walking the league; it's not right that a "boring" team, like Chelsea win it. How is it justifiable (OK the rules of the game help) to accrue points solely owing to the number of goals scored versus the number of goals conceded?!
To go 38 games in a season and consistently score more goals than one's opponents should not be the criterion on which a team is judged.
Ski-jumping, dressage, and ice skating are the truest of sports, where the best are always correctly and coherently identified. None of this objective crap that you see in football.

No ; why would a billionaire care about us?
No
We are continuing with flags and banners, as we cannot force people to sing, but have also got the club to confirm exactly how people can request a season ticket relocation if they want to come into Block 6 ; although space is very limited and it relies on people also requesting to move out. That section needs some new blood.
The drummer was hounded out due to continuous abuse from other fans, so she has not been back to Arsenal since.
Why did you reply twice to my post?
