THE BOARD - Kroenke, Usmanov and Finance

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Look, I'm all for doing things the morally legit way but you have to think about the bigger picture. Football is gone. At least, football as we know it. Clubs are becoming franchises, the mediocre/poor players are multi-millionaire celebrities and the true supporters of the club are seen as entirely dispensable. Success on the pitch is sacrificed by those in charge so that the share price can be raised and then sold on for a profit. Arsenal is a business now. Nothing more, nothing less. Yes, I know we haven't won a trophy in seven years, but did you know we've just accumulated 1.5 million Twitter followers?

So, my Arsenal - the one that I grew up with and the one that my Dad grew up with is a completely different Arsenal from the one it is today. The way football is going, I don't see it ever coming back, either (despite what Nike tell you in their awful marketing). So, as a wise Eastenders character once posted on here - if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Get Usmanov in. I already struggle to relate to Arsenal these days. Can he really make it any worse?

I do not agree with my topic being amended to include Dein

Their relationship is amicable but history

It is time to spank the yank

Support Usmanov - 'he'll spend what he wants" but don't cloud the need for Usmanov with a return of DD

If your Dein thread had stayed open it would have just lead to a duplication of comments about both him and Usmanov, weakening both threads.
A fair chunk of this thread is already about Dein.
So I included Dein on the title.
If you really object I can change it back?

Whether you or I like it or not, in the minds of many fans both Usmanov and Dein are linked, and this in itself is a good topic for discussion.

If Usmanov took over, then there would be nothing to stop Dein returning.

Yes, there was an official statement that Dein is no longer connected to Usmanov.
But time will tell if either plays a part in our club.

Thanks for posting that.

It is a staggering read and I think the whole Forum should read it.

I know for a fact there are errors in it, for example he has altogether left out naming one of the board members who has left the board, Clive Carr.

But nonetheless, for the first time there is (alleged) dirt on Hill-Wood, and a theory that there is a lot more to the struggle for the club than meets the eye.

If USM was still here this could be a "Smoking Gun" he kept on about.
As far as I am concerned this is the most interesting blog since the takeover battle began....it was one thing a personal beef between Dein and the board keeping Usmanov out...for starters it was no secret and it was understandable.

But this blog suggests much more complex and murky reasons for the freezing out of Usmanov;

Possibly Hill-Wood knows more than has ever been made public because of his own Russian connections,

Possibly the board are keeping Usmanov away because of Hill-Wood's rivalry with Usmanov's allies,

Possibly Usmanov tried to go for the club because of a rivalry with Hill-Wood's Russian connections.

It is heavy stuff, and the club are the casualty.

But no disrespect to anyone involved, but if you think about who the board are allegedly in bed with it is going to take a whole lot more than one banner to effect change in the club.

I despise phw.
I despise kroenke
I despise gazidas with all his smarmy bullshit talk but no substance
I despised fizsman who was a vindictive so and so (note the lack of proper cuss words) and worked off an agenda that always put his needs above what was good for the club and I will not for one second go along with the cannonisation of the man just cos he is dead - he is no fcuking loss to the club imo

When all the above are removed from OUR club then we can start looking ahead with some hope again and I look forward to that day.

That was an eye opening read which has left me feeling much anger, shock and concern. Okay, so both PHW and Jabba have their fingers in some murky business pies but the thing that struck me most was that someone out there named their son 'Chippendale' It's bloody outrageous.

Because he wanted us to stay competitive?

Dein is a winner. No coincidence we've won fuck all ever since he left.

I wouldn't be surprised if tomorrow, somewhere in Cincinnati, police bust their way into an apartment and find a guy dead on the floor, totally naked with this website open on his computer

For what it's worth though, I echo augie's sentiments!
