THE PROJOE TOTALLY POINTLESS TRANSFER RUMOUR THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Thing is we could actually sign Given if Hart gets the nod as No.1

Hmm.. I really am in 2 minds about all this. I know he says he is only really thinking about a loan but lets be honest, if he goes on loan to another club I think its very unlikely he will go back to Citeh. He would only go back if he was guaranteed no.1 spot, and thats unlikely if he isnt chosen as no.1 now. I seriously doubt that Mancini will be willing to loe either of them though, on loan or permanently so I dont think anything will happen. Perhaps in January if one of them kicks up a real fuss but too late now imo. PLUS, I dont think Wenger wants a new keeper desperately enough (if at all) to offer the sort of money Shiteh will ask for either of them.

Shay Given at Arsenal would have been great...irrespective of age, he's a top class keeper

The only problem with signing Given is that I dont see Shiteh selling him this summer, so we would only get him on loan. And I dont see that happening unless they include some sort of clause stating that they could recall him in case of injury to Hart, which is really not ideal. As I said before, Mancini made it very clear the importance of having a quality replacement, and with Given getting injured at the end of last season, leaving them with no recognised keeper.
