The plot thickens, would love to know what’s actually going on behind the scenes with this one. All very very strange.
So we pay 3m loan with an option(not mandatory)to buy next season for 27m ,so the 27m becomes next yrs problem if we take up the option, 8)
Trying to get my head around this,he signs a 1 Yr extension to his Brentford contract until 2025,if we decide not to buy him after his season long loan then it means Brentford can still get a decent fee from other clubs.
Yes but his value will probably have fallen off a cliff
True ,but won't be our problem

Retro if he doesn't work out ,we send him back ,costs us 3m for the loan as opposed to paying 30m and him not working out .Apparently helps with FFP

Yes, unless I'm missing something, it looks like a cracking arrangement for us. Not sure what's in it for Brentford.

My question though is that I thought we are nowhere near any issues with FFP ??? We get used to contradictory statements about being linked and not linked to players, but is that shit starting with FFP now too ?? :banghead: Have we FFP concerns or not FFS ?????

I haven't seen anywhere near enough of Raya to pass judgement but I think Ramsdale continues to grow as a keeper and I'd be disappointed if he was dumped. Having said that there is history with the likes of Chesney at becoming complacent when there is a lack of competition, so that's a plus point. This boy had his pick of a few clubs- was being touted as De Gea's replacement before they signed Onana, so I doubt he's going to come and just play the odd cup game

Still puzzled by the lack of need for a striker especially with Jesus latest injury. Eddie has improved a lot in the last 18 months but no way is he ready for a PL CL campaign as a regular starter. Just hope Toney is being lined up for January and that it won't be too late

So a 12 month shoot out between the two of them to see who comes out on top as our number 1 and the other gets binned off next summer?

Must say I couldn’t get my head around spending 30 mil on another keeper but a 3m loan is an incredible deal for us. May the best man win, competition can only be good for Ramsdale, complacency definitely crept into his game last season when he knew he was undroppable due to Mediocre Matt being back up.

Edu’s fucking cooking :barscarf:

Well his contract was up this time next Yr,so he's signs on for an extra Yr with Brentford until summer of 2025 ,if we do decide to buy him after his loan they get 27m,if we don't,because he's signed an extension until 2025 it means Brentford can still sell him to some other club and get some money ,if he sat out the last Yr of his contract they'd get nothing, and I think they've already bought another GK few weeks back.

And PS I've fucked up the quoting bit

In all likelihood the only way it wouldnt work out is if we spent £30m for a bench warmer - I think that it is generally accepted that he is AT LEAST as good as ramsdale (some would say better), so if he is playing the chances are it would work out fine

I’d imagine with our current wage bill we’re skirting pretty close to it at the moment. The club would have expected to have jettisoned a lot more turds by now but alas it just hasn’t happened yet.

Fast forward 2/3 weeks and we should be out of the woods though when Banter Bob Holding, Pepe, Lakonga, Cedric, Travares and OG forum favourite Kieren Tierney plop into the bowl.

The squad is massively bloated at the moment, we need some major movement in the departure lounge ASAP.

It saves our cash for another signing ✍️…….
Only £3m outlay now and the £27m ( assuming we take up the option ) will spread from next season over his 4 year deal so £6.5m a year

Got to say that’s jolly decent of Brentford, to turn down higher from the scum earlier in the window, to loan him to us for £3m

They must still be feeling guilty about that offside goal eh ?

Read somewhere tht we have a squad of about 34/35 players ,which is too many and definitely needs to be trimmed down

Like a lot of transfers Stuart it all boiled down to where the player wanted to go and he only had eyes for us.

Brentford would have been happy to take the scum money but Raya didn’t want to go there (I’m liking him already!). He wouldn’t sign a renewal until this move came along which has has worked out perfectly as it has something in it for everyone, we get the player, Brentford got him to extend and Raya got his move.

Win, win, win.

Yep, definitely need her to join, so that Augie can get to work and I get the £400.

Another win win.

Mind you, not a win win win, because poor old Mila ends up with Augie.

I can't see how either Ramsdale or Raya will be happy to settle for being the "domestic cup keeper" at this stage in their careers even if the one who is given first crack is playing well.

So are we going to give them each 15-20 games in the Prem League regardless?
