Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

aim is obviously CL qualification
JD,
Wenger himself says every season that winning the league and the CL are Arsenal's targets. Are you calling Wenger a liar now??

Man Ure have won 13 trophies in the last 7 years that we have won nothing! You cannot blame Van Persie in a way because he wants to stay in the UK for his wife and kids and it sounds like United were the only team to offer anywhere near the money that Arsenal wanted. He has made some big mistakes in talking up his love for Arsenal blah blah blah and then going to our biggest 'enemy' in the last 16 years.

The most worrying thing is, he alone got us to 3rd place last year. Realistically, neither Poldi or Giroud are likely to score 20 goals in their first season, so unless they get 15 each, we are in deep shit and I'll be very very surprised if either of them are game changers like RVP could be. With injuries already happening before the start of the season and long term injuries still affecting us, I think some people could be quite shocked at just how bad this season could be.

I hope our aim is to win every single game - the quadruple
doesnt mean missing that 'aim' is a failure

also stay in the UK?
Barcelona and Paris are a hell of a lot more like London than shithole Manchester is
in the last 7 years we've actually won the cup (undeservedly)
cant be bothered to count ManUres, sounds like too many
we both won nothing last season

no single player can get any team anywhere, ridiculous to suggest it
even Argentina '86 needed solidity or the influence of the greatest player ever would not have been enough

Have to agree with what Bob Wilson said. RvP used to spout all the bollocks about how proud he was to wear the shirt and the armband and all that. Leaving was one thing, but fully knowing what it would mean to the fans and pissing off to United regardless is unforgivable. To say he would have been fuck all without Arsenal is no exaggeration at all: a UEFA Cup club didn't want him because his attitude stank, and no other big club would have stood by him through years and years of injury. I just hope the c*nt has a tiny shred of decency remaining to keep his mouth shut and not either patronise or slag off the fans with his comments.

On a side note, what a man Bob Wilson is. Phenomenal servant to the club both as a player and later a coach, been through a horrendous time with his daughter passing away, does a fantastic service for charity and still finds time to be a massive Gooner :barscarf:

what 'failures'? Minimum aim is obviously CL qualification, so far never failed

No the minimum is to challenge for the league and the champs league every year! not to merely play in it! so yes he is falling short of the targets, just goes to show how little the fans expect now! your happy to be fighting it out for a champs league qualification spot! super!

although manris gives them some leeway
its not just about winning the league but

good to know your definition of success if so much laxer for the opposition than it is for us

Our opposition manure, CONSTANTLY CHALLENGE AND WIN competitions!

The failures have nothing to do with winning things - go back and look at the subject and what I was replying to.

Then have the decency to retract these statements. Not cos I need it, but cos you like to demand some sort of standard of behaviour from others to which you seem to want to be immune. Otherwise I can call you a :censored: , which amounts to the same thing, and no-one wants that, do they?

I leave it with you mate.

jd oh when was the last time we lost the league on goal difference in the last 7 years....so we have been as close to wnning trophies as united have in the last 7 years have we? the definition is hardly laxer, we have come close in the league once in 7 seasons and in the CL once.

u just twist whatever is said to attempt to undermine facts that go against your view! lets look at the league finishes since we last won a trophy shall we?

united
2012 -joint top
2011 -winners
2010 - 1 point off top
2009 - winners
2008- winners
2007- winners
2006 8 points off top

us
2012 19 point off top
2011 12 points off top
2010 11 points off top
2009 18 pints off top
2008 4 point off top
2007 21 points off top
2006 24 points off top

thus who has come closer to wining trophies in that time span, im sure the fa cup and CL analysis would come out similarly?

it really becomes tiresome arguing with you, as you are so delibertely delusional, ignoring cold ahard facts and put a positive spin on anything the regime at the club does, but are suppose that spinning BS comes with the terrioty of being in with the granita pact set, are you sure you are not an emplyoee of the club?
