He's not the media darling anymore though. The fans may still love him but the media have been quite vicious towards him. They were playing worse than that earlier on in the season and getting an easy ride. If he hadn't pissed them all off waving his dossier and his arrogant but aloof and non-media friendly persona, they would undoubtedly be reporting how it was a great sign that they were on such a great run of results without playing well and speculating what a force they'd be when things inevitably click.

He doesn't understand how important it is to hVe the media onside in this country. The journos don't love mourinhos passion or his authenticity - it's because (despite what they may pretend) he feeds them what they want to hear and practically writes the stories himself. He gets away with some ridiculous stuff because of that. Van Gaal is a sulky twat who hasn't built up the following of a Ferguson or a Wenger to be able to act like he does.

He is a few poor results and an ill-advised comment (for example biting back at Scholes) away from nose-diving even further and being hammered for squandering so much money in his vanity project and his tactical disasters like pissing away months trying to get them to play 3 at the back when they have no decent CBs.

I can see them dropping out of top 4. Liverpool are not a great team and have been incredibly lucky but when they are confident Anfield is one of the toughest trips. I can see them fancying leapfrogging United.

Jury's out on Pellers, but van Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaal is as much of a dinosaur as Wenger is. His trophy record over the last decade (Bayern possibly excepted) ain't great.

Pellegrini has no tactical acumen, just has better quality and wider variety of players at his disposal than Wenger.

van Gaal is making himself look a fool with his comments. Van Judas averages better than a goal every 2 games throughout his PL career, Rooney averages better than a goal every 2 games throughout his time at United, Falcao has scored goals for fun wherever he's been. Granted van Judas and Falcao have both had some injuries this season but suggesting he has a lack of attacking resources at his disposal is crazy.
