If the Saudi's want to offer us north of 65m for Gabriel then I would bite their arm off!
Although he's played some good games he can also be a liability and make silly errors. I wouldn't be sorry to see him go but would be sorry if we didn't replace him.

Honestly the way el basque is setting up this team, I dunno if it will make a difference if he is sold or not - we had a season of ben white at centre back and it was enough to show that he isnt good enough to play there, and then last Saturday he is put back in there at the expense of Gabriel ?? Absolutely no logic to the way this team is being put together and I said so in the summer when we signed havertz - I wasnt happy when we signed him as a striker cos he isnt good enough, but now that we are playing him in a position where we already had 3 better players to play there it is beyond pissing me off, and the fact that he can seemingly do no wrong in lego heads eyes is a disgrace

The fact that Gabriel suddenly dropped to the bench for "tactical reasons" after starting 70 odd consecutive league games was a strange one, I wonder if this Saudi interest came to light in the days leading up to the game which caused his head to be turned and that's why he was dropped?

Makes more sense than randomly dropping him for a home game against Forest.

No issues for David Raya to Arsenal, it’s all done and sealed — confirmed 🔴⚪️

It will be official later today. #AFC

All documents are signed and medical tests have been successfull. It was just matter of time to extend deal and leave on loan with buy clause.

ARSENAL are eyeing up a move for Manchester City centre-back Aymeric Laporte, according to reports.

Is he any good? Will we sign a significant other to do us while Timber is out?

It's possible Rodders, but I fear it may be what Augie says above, that it's simply inexplicable decision making by Captain Black.

After a long injury lay-off, Saliba is back and he seemed to be forming a pretty good pairing with Gabriel pre injury. I'll admit to liking Gabriel and at 25, he's got a couple of years to develop into a top centre back. As Augie says, Ben White isn't at the level we need and didn't cover himself in glory with Forest's goal at the weekend.

I said at the time that the only reason I could see for playing Partey at RB (the goal also came down that flank) was to create centre mid space for Havertz to play. A stupid decision in my book, but if he wanted to do that, I can't explain why he didn't just drop White. There may be something concerning a Saudi bid, but I suspect it's Arteta trying to show us how he can out-Pep Pep.

If Havertz becomes the new Xhaka, guaranteed a place regardless of how crap he is...which I think will happen, because our Wenger Mkll won't admit he's wrong....then he could well be the rock on which Captain Black founders. I think I've stolen that metaphor, so apologies to whoever used it a few days ago.

If we are selling Gabriel, then yes Laporte would be an upgrade imo. However if we are not selling Gabriel, why would we need to buy another centre back when it was a full back that got injured ? Again I see a lack of a plan in our transfer strategy which is baffling. I think cancelo is a cracking full back and would make sense as a replacement, but I see his arrogance/attitude bringing trouble into the dressing room so I would steer clear tbh

think timber could cover CB couldnt he?

Would happily sign laporte for 20 odd mill, if it means holding is fucked off, although laporte is prone to the odd mistake. timbers injury brings calamity bob one step closer to the 1st team. shocking indictment of the club that this champo player hasnt been bombed out.

the more i think about it the worse it gets on havertz he is 100% the new clive. shite but guaranteed starter for no apparent reason - at least for clive we had a bit of a dearth of options as we never signed a replacement...havertz we have plenty of better players - possibly even viera! and makes me sick as it will be a few years before hes bombed out.

likewise the lack of a proper striker...idiots like arseblog bigging up the feather, 'when he starts he scores' well he was shite last season when push came to shove and nothing better than palace level at the best of times.

havertz and no striker and playing white at CB when not necessary will sink artetas ship. if we carry on not picking the best side i think we may struggle for the top 4. i was very optimistic when rice, and timber signed but expected more to come - bobby promised a hose...raya may or may not be better than ramsdale, hopefully he is as ramsdale has believed his own hype and regressed badly so can be improved on, but the greatest area of need was upfront. baffled we are giving the feather chances when hes proven failure not even looking at a 20 goal in ligue 1 kid who could be very good or could be crap, we simply don't know. either way 20 goals in that league and his age has to be min 50m, bet we sell cheaper.

Did anyone see Eddie being interviewed on TNT Sports after the game?

Sure he's a nice guy but that is irrelevant when it comes to being a striker. It wasn't a confident interview and although polite it was like he didn't want to be questioned. I thought he was quite uncomfortable.
Can we fuck him off to Palace before the window shuts?
