I don't see how away goals only counting after extra time would be remotely fair, it gives one team an extra 30 minutes to get another goal which the other didnt have in the first leg.

They either count after 90 minutes or not at all.

Next he will say if the gama is all square after 180 minutes the coach who has spent the most time sitting on the bench will win the game.
Or the coach who has done the most bitching at the 4th official.
FFS the man will say literally anything other than "I made a mistake".

Wenger NEVER admits to his mistakes,in fact he tells whoever wants to listen after the game exactly where the team went wrong..then HIS team makes exactly the same errors the week later,and he STILL does FUCK ALL to correct it,its like he can see his sides making the mistakes but hasnt the fucking know-how to put it right,

It's hilarious how predictable this season is turning out. All of the following has been predicted all season long: eliminated at the Last 16 stage, tie dead after the first leg, glorious failure in the second leg, Wenger arguing that the away goals rule should be scrapped, Wenger promising big summer spending...

I know we joke about how much of a groundhog day our club is, yet I still find it bewildering when the sequence of events unfolds EXACTLY as we say it will.

How does nobody else outside of the club notice that the exact same thing happens every single year?

You could easily comb thru so many of his quotes for years now and find the absurd, hypocritical, arcane, outdated, and ridiculous.

one wouldn't need to be a lawyer to make an overwhelming case of his ineptitude and close-mindedness.

it is beyond apparent that he needs to go and should've gone years ago. This is embarrassing. I don't understand how a teams that is one of the TOP TEN RICHEST in the world can allow this to go on.

OGL's obsession with not winning anything in Europe means we'll never get rid of him, as he plans to stick around to try to win something. Now he thinks the Europa League might be a good idea.It's unfair that he doesn't get to compete in it after he's failed in the CL.

Firstly, let me just say that I don't agree with what he is saying in most ways.

Secondly, he has a bit of a point that teams who are failures in the CL are given a second bite of the cherry in Europa league and that doesn't seem right. They are almost rewarded for failing by being given a second chance. Elimination from the CL should be elimination from European competition for that season. End of!

Controversial I know but maybe a year in the Europa league would actually do us good. Winning is a habit. It creates belief! Currently we have a team that have only ever won one trophy. If we had a season in the Europa and won it (still not an easy task as there are a few decent teams in there), it might give them more belief to go on and challenge in the CL the following year! Sometimes you need to build success, not go in at the top level with high expectations.

The problem being that given the size of the club and the shite spouted out from it, we have that expectation to compete at the top level now. We're told about how good the team is etc. etc. So all old dopey is doing is bringing the pressure on himself by making rash statements early in the season, raising fans expectations and then having to massively back pedal later in the season to explain/excuse why we didn't reach those lofty heights again!

Problem is spuddy, that you cannot force fed the thousands of Gooner supporters (and general public for that matter) the importance of top 4 and the prestige it brings, and then turn around and dismiss the importance of the champs league like it is no better than the capital one cup. I think most of the older Gooners would have no problem with the club being in Europa league if the games were on tues and wed nites and if ticket prices were adjusted accordingly - the newer/younger Gooners might not be happy being out of champs league cos they have only known an era of regular champs league football, plus most of them have bought into the myth that we cannot retain or buy top quality players without champions league football and that of course is bullshit

I think all Gooners would agree that winning, in any competition, is a good habit and especially for a team with a fragile mentality like ours - the problem here is that wenkers inconsistancies suggest that we couldn't even begin to predict how he would view the Europa league and how much effort he would put into it One day he suggests that he has sacrificed champs league for fa cup, and a few days later he suggests that he has sacrificed fa cup for champs league......what will he sacrifice if we were in Europa league ??

Btw, ssn has just interviewed a german journo at the champs league draw and he said that the view in Europe is that wenker is not up to date with modern football
