lads your argument is moot anyway. as soon as wenger comes up against a decent manager he will get outcoached.

look who we've lost to this season - stoke, swansea, southampton (twice), united (at home) and the scum down the road - we took a point off them this year. a point !

as soon as we meet the likes of Inter, Sevilla, Roma etc we would be done for. don't forget we couldn't beat Anderlecht, and we struggled against Besitkas in both games too.

we have no chance.

If we pull of the Treble i.e. Community Shield, FA Cup and 3rd Place Trophy, I wonder where that will rank on the list of "Wenger's Greatest Ever Achievements"

I'm sure Graeme Souness will let us know soon enough

The first part was right at least.

The guy is a total :censored: It really pisses me off when so called "celebrity fans" feel the need to publish their views on football even tho they clearly don't have a clue. He should go back to his show, and leave this type of stuff to the ex players.

The Grand Illusion Continues To Build momentum in The Clubs Virtual World:

"Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, 28, has suggested that his side can still win the title too, as they lie seven points behind Chelsea. (Daily Telegraph)
Giroud's boss, Arsene Wenger, feels that the Frenchman is now one of the best strikers in the Premier League. (Independent) "

He's defenitely improved but off the top my head I would still take Agüero, Costa, Rooney and Kane over him.

:banghead: :banghead: But Giroud is a totally different player to the 4 mentioned, he relys on strength, bit like Rooney, flick ons- Giroud is best by far for these, and l sorties into the box for tap ins, but he is probably the most versatile, only weakness and bottom compared to the other 4 is his long range attemps- often not good enough. Each striker has their strengths, but honestly Girouds been generally great since he had returned. I think we all get frustrated with the silly rolling around he does (Better this year) and ariel look ups. He was dire V Monaco first leg but its no shock that we did badly when Giroud was away and much better with him back.

The 2 flick ons last year with TR7 and Wilshere, as well as the goal in the charity shield and the 2 he was involved v The Shammers were all great goals that will last long in my memory. Some of his goals show great technical technique, and he is often relatively isolated up front.

people are way too hard on him. Following TH14 and Wrighty is a near impossible task- but IMHO he is the best we have had since TH14 surely :? .

Agree that it is an unrealistic yardstick to expect Giroud to be able to match up to Wright, Henry, Bergkamp and van Judas because he's just nowhere near them in terms of ability. But the reality is that - as main man up front for Arsenal - those are the standards by which he is going to be judged anyway.

I think he has shown real improvement this season and was excellent on Saturday. But he's never going to be good enough to justify being our main striker Imo. He completely lacks pace and offers basically no threat in behind which is always going to leave him prone to being marked out of big games by defenders who are able to get really tight to him in the knowledge that he won't spin them.

Giroud's a quality striker and it's increasingly hilarious some of the idiots on here continue to knock the guy as the goals keep flying in 8)

THe way some go on on here you'd think he was Kaba Diawara

My thoughts exactly.

Giroud and Welé (him more so) should be backup strikers for the world class striker we've needed since RvP left in '12.

The reason Giroud is criticised by everyone on here is because (a) His goal return is never going to be near the 30 goal mark, and if you are a top striker then you need to be getting near that amount, even Adebayor managed it one season. (b) he fails to perform in big games. Giroud is a good player, but if you want to be a title winning team, you need a world class striker, and he isnt.

  How could I forget RVJCs world class season

fully agree he lacks pace generally WITH THE BALL, again that isnt his game, but in fairness he seems pretty nippy off the ball, twice last season he sneaked up on keepers robbing them & scoring goals (Manone and Boric (?)) He has seen and played into space well. he has better vision than many and is stronger than many.

Roony is no speedster, and Welb is, but we all know whos better. It a different game he plays.

The big games keep being referred to but this season he has performed well in the big games. The chances are less, but he has taken some great ones- the Comm shield goal was simply world class surely, especially considering the defender was very tight on him :? . He has got 17 goals in all competitions with 26 appearances this season, thats a pretty good return by anyones standards. :rubchin:
