THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

So does that make Harry Kane Pele then?
Yes Giroud scored against United...errrrm in a match we lost and when he came on as a sub with the game done.
Giroud scored a tap-in at Anfield in a game, yep, we didn't win.
Fair play he scored at Citeh - a header from 2 yards out but they all count.
Giroud has improved of late but let's stop the bullshit, he is inferior to the true top quality strikers and there's a simple reason for that: Aguero can win a game for you out of nothing. I've watched Diego Costa rip a Mourinho team to shreds in Spain and then, in the CL again. RVP on fire can score one out of nothing. Suarez, see Clasico goal yesterday.
Giroud is far, far too limited a player to ever be top class, he never will be. It's interesting that at his age, he's never been close to being first choice for France - even when at his worst, Benzema will always get the nod of him, shit even that Lacazette guy is rated higher! Giroud's problem is that he will never win you a game. You'll never see Giroud run in behind a defence as he has sod all pace.
That Monaco game was a joke, it cost us elimination - 6 clear chances and not a shot on target. That's not an off day, it's just woeful. Giroud can't dribble, his first touch is 60-40, and he isn't difficult for top defenders to play against. It is hilarious reading the "Giroud is a quality striker" jokes mind. I'd put him beneath Kanu (not first choice for us).
Basically Giroud wouldn't be first choice striker at any elite club - no way.
Giroud plays for Arsenal where you'll get 100 chances a season so he's bound to get a few. Didn't Adebayor get 30 goals in all comps for us?
Just another case of low standards at the club. In 2004 Giroud wouldn't have been allowed to drive the Arsenal team bus FFS. He scores 2 scraped tap-ins at Newcastle, and often scored loads at home, against rubbish teams. And that's without even going into his laughable performances against Chelski
I believe the star is that last season in 2 games against them, he managed 1 shot on target. Amazing.
He's improved but then again, stick Danny Ings up front being given endless chances on a plate from Ozil, Cazorla etc and he'd manage a decent goal haul, Adebayor is proof enough of that
Of course not he doesn't have a driving licence yer Twonk....as for the rest - we all know he is limited - but until wenker is GONE - there's nowt we can do.

You'll never win a league with Giroud as your main striker, however have him playing second fiddle to a world class finisher and you've enough firepower to do serious damage in this division. Giroud rotating with someone like the cannibal and even Wenger would struggle to make a boll0cks of it.

I was a fierce critic of the guy but he has improved. He has his uses, and even though I want another striker brought in I would still see Giroud as a very useful part of the squad.

he has been elevated out of the gerivinho/chamakh/podolski class and into something resembling an Arsenal striker.

I always wanted a fast mobile striker who can finish (rules out welbeck), to maximise the potential of this team.
I agree with that. Should be nothing more then a second choice striker for us though.

Thing is we've been judging him in May of the past 7 seasons and no one at the club nor clueless himself pays any attention to his constant successes at failing miserably. :?
