THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

No, not at all. But, I reckon we'd miss Giroud hugely if he was injured - more so than any other player maybe.

Sanchez and Cazorla too. And Coquelin of course as we basically have no one else for that role :?

Not sure how much we'd miss Ozil :rubchin:

G88ner I concur.

No coincidence that our really bad patch of this season was when he was injured. He isnt popular on here I dont know quite why but he has been the difference since hes returned.

Sanchez is a worry at the moment, I doubt we would have missed him for the last month  , and Cazola a reincarnation this season, I was all for selling him, as he was pretty shit last season right through.

Ozil :rubchin: Ive liked a lot of what I have seen since he has returned but agree jury is still out. Seems his confidence is shot- at least 2 one one one shots and he passes across the box :rubchin: :rubchin:

Petr Cech available at around 10 million, a player who would gaurantee to gain us points over a season will Wenger buy him, will he fuck.....
Too busy extending Abou Diabys contract, to think hes drawing 5 million a year wages for making these decisions

He is on 60 k per week last time I looked that's 3.12 Million per year X 5 Plus years so a total of 15 Million as of January bit since his contract finishes in July now that's another 1.82 Million topping off at a mere 16.82 !

I dont blame him he should have been on a base wage with fitness bonuses but no we just had to give him a five year deal !

Loads of Money !

Not sure if its Wenger or Diabys wages Redarmys mentioned, but both are too much. Cant blame either of them though, you don't get what you deserve you get what you negotiate.

Its AFC that deserve the blame- appreciate its near to Arsene FC though

Enough to drive all Gooners nuts isnt it, Honestly who else would have given Diaby anything like those wages Herd mentions and a more equivalent wage to other PL managers should have been negotiated for AW (accepting that most of us know a contract shouldnt have been offered in the first place)

Fair comment cannot blame Wenger for his contract but,

In any other profession if you are paid Top Money its RESULTS or your out.....

Bare minimum this year is FA Cup and 2nd in the Premiership

Next Year need a Genuine Title challenge,
With squad boosted in the summer like Mourinho did with Fabregas and Costa, not buying some kids learning there trade in the lower French leagues, hoping to make it big with no outlay.....

I think most people on here thought Wenger was on £8million a year - £8 million too much if you ask me.

Please just let us dream that he's offski till then - otherwise it'll be mass suicides all round in Gooner Land.

I keep thinking that this year is opportunities lost. Had we a proper centreback and holding midfielder, we would likely have challenged. Basically what everyone on the forum has been saying for years. Arteta adapted to the role quite well, but there is a massive difference to when he played and how much more solid we look when Le Coq plays.

On a positive note, 2 more years left. I don't think that he is going to renew. I think that at worst, we may see a rolling one year deal and that probably is if we are progressing. If we can keep our form up between now and the end of the year, we just may pip Man City to 2nd. We also could retain the FA Cup. That to me, despite the crap in the beginning of the year, would be progress on last year.

One last thing - Giroud will be looked back on as a astute piece of business. A top target man and will always give us another option even if we eventually replace him with a better striker. At the moment, the guy is playing superb and long may it continue.
