I don't know if Martinez is good enough but I do know that last week simeone came out and said that manzucic (sp  ) was not for sale, and now within 4 days he has sold him and bought a replacement for him - that's decisive transfer dealings 8)

"Arsenal have entered the race to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Gunners are said to be readying a £28.7m bid to land the 25-year-old."

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... eyang.html

Is this guy worth that kinda money? I don't know anything about him other than he plays for Dortmund.
Would he be a good signing?

No fcuking way - I don't see we would spend that type of money on a guy that is 2nd or 3rd quality level, when there are better players moving for similar fee's. Tbh I would rather buy Charlie Austin at 15m than spend 28m on this guy

I know that I will be slated for saying this, but I would rate pappis cisse as a better striker than all bar sanchez of our current squad - I'm not advocating signing him or anything, but I am surprised that more clubs haven't tried to sign him (last season he scored 11 league goals in 22 appearances 8) )

Have to say if this IS true then all I can say is...........I've never heard of him...so £29 mill seems a tad steep.....<gallic shrug> :?

If a 1 goal in every 2 games gets a " 8) " from you mate, then perhaps you'll also like to reserve a " 8) " for our man Giroud who has a slightly better record but over more games illustrating what a super consistent striker he is! and that's after breaking his leg! :barscarf:

Everything is relative I guess - the thing is that giroud would have far, far more chances created for him than a player playing for a team fighting relegation I would think. Anyway I did say that I am not advocating that we should sign him (although I would rate him as better than the aforementioned giroud and wellbeck), but am merely saying that there should be more clubs interested in him imo

cisse is shite augie, have to disagree there. He is a rubbish footballer, decent finisher. Ask Newcastle fans about him. There was a good reason Chelsea preferred Ba to Cisse.

I was never a fan of Mandzukic not too suprised Simeone has shipped him out quickly as soon as an offer came in. Surprised they bought him in the first place though.

You know there is a dearth of strikers in Europe when we have to pick from Mandzukic, Martinez and Auebameyang.

Anyone facing a punt on Carlos Tevez? Not a long term solution due to his age but could do a job for 2-3 seasons.

But Mandzukic wasn't "available" remember Augie!
I thought players were supposed to knock on Arsene's door begging to play for him
Yeah as you said. Mandzukic gets sold - Atletico have signed 2 excellent strikers to cover him in less than a week: Jackson Martinez and Vietto of Villareal. Boom. Yet loads of our lot apparently think it's "impossible" and players "aren't available" and transfer negotiations are "tricky". They're not: you pay the fee, get player, in out, done

Mandzukic and Martinez are bit serious upgrades on France's finest donkey, tell you that
