As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
It’s a real shame what has happened to international football in recent years.
Qualifying matches used to be really big events - Holland v England 93
Italy v England 97
Germany v England 01
All great occasions- now completely killed off because all the big teams have basically got a free pass to the finals. Trouble is because there is now a lack of engagement between the finals , there is increasingly less interest once you get to the finals…

The break up of the soviet union was the worst thing to happen to European international football. Controversial but true!
Devalues all the caps and goals the likes of kane have scored for sure

Yep. That and the old Yugoslavia being broken up into independent nations. Let the top teams in Europe and South America qualify automatically and then have a cross- confederation tournament over the course of 18 months like that Nations League shit but higher quality, whilst the shit ones try and qualify for a World Cup or European Championship by taking on crap like Andorra, San Marino, Malta and Scotland.

Yep, I had forgot Yugoslavia wasn't part of USSR! Had meant that as part of it!
Yugoslavia would have been some team at various stages in the last 30 years had they stayed together...what price self determination!!
Edit and the Czechs as well ..all the old eastern bloc as was, made it much more competitive and interesting for the impartial observer...suspect the peoples prefer it now perhaps though!
Elanga ran 85 yards in nine seconds last night with the ball to score against Manchester United. That is serious pace and to have an end product from it is impressive. United for their part threw on Maguire as a striker in the last few minutes as a final act of desperation.
He missed a glorious opportunity and then had one cleared off the line. Amorin must be cursing the day he gave up his easy job in Portugal.
Those fucking Geordie dicks showing that they really are the sperz of the north with their celebrations on winning a cup less important than a fucking charity shield!
Made even more laughable yet also annoying by the Geordie "chas and dave" ant the drunken druggie mc parland and dec the fucking c u n t!
