From what I've seen of Marquinhos which isn't a lot, he looked alright. I think he went on loan somewhere dunno where.

He was at Norwich last year and was bang average- no idea where he is this season but can’t be doing much good as it would be making news on Arsenal chat sites.

Arsenal are investigating whether a deal can be done for Ivan Toney this January, as Mikel Arteta wants the Brentford forward and now leans towards a striker for this window's business. The Independent has been told that Arsenal's preference is to do the deal this January. [@Independent]

I dont think diet pep has any interest in signing a striker next month anyway, but even if he did, who does he go after ? The obvious top choices are toney (who hasnt played competitive football in 7 months) and osimhen (who is off on international duty for a month in Jan), so both are not straight forward deals. Dont get me wrong though cos in my opinion sticking with what we have already is the LEAST PREFERABLE decision to me, but when you are in the position we are in, you want someone to come in and start to remedy the lack of goals straight away but one wont be available for a few weeks and the other MIGHT take a while to get match sharp.

Brentford still sinking like a stone, zero chance they sell Toney to anyone in January with survival in such jeopardy.

My hope is/was that we rejected palace's interest in nketieh cos we plan on offering him in the deal to sign toney - that might work ? :rubchin:

That was always my hope too Augie but it was going to be dependent on Brentford’s league position. They’re in total free fall, lost 6 of their last 7 with a win against skid mark Luton being the other game.

They won’t risk rolling the dice with Toney with their survival looking so perilous (I fully expect them to stay up mind as like with Everton you can afford to lose must weeks and still be comfortable with the skid mark 3 around ) but with the amount of money involved with being in the premier league there’s no way they’ll gamble on it in my opinion.

While we absolutely need a striker, if Palace want Nketiah, then I’d try to strike a deal involving Olise. He’s a very bright prospect and I think you and OB were mentioning him very recently.

The skid mark 3 have completely skewed the league this season. It means teams like Everton who’ve lost 10 games AND had a 10 point deduction are unbelievably not in the relegation zone. Same with Brentford who’ve lost 6 of the lasts 7 but are still safe.

The skid mark 3 are a get out of jail free card for the rest of the dross clubs this season. You know you can afford to lose most weeks safe in the knowledge that they will too.

There’s been plenty of shit teams in this league down through the years but I never remember it being inevitable which 3 will get relegated from so early in the season. The worst 3 to ever be promoted in my lifetime anyway.

Tbf everton are now only 1pt above relegation zone and they have played one more game than luton who are the team right behind them, so they are far from secure imo. It is also a disgrace that everton lodged their appeal to the points deduction a while back, but to date it hasnt been heard and nor is there any word of when it will be heard - surely in the interest of fairness to all clubs, that appeal should be heard within a couple of weeks of it being lodged ??
What I will also add is that from memory I THINK forest and everton are two of the hardest hit clubs (along with shammers) with players going to afcon and asia cup next month - that can have big effect on relegation battle :rubchin:

On top of that, Mbeumo, who was doing very well for them is out injured for another 2-3 months which makes it even more unlikely they’ll sell Toney in January

Everton have 1.3 points per game.
Luton have 0.8 points per game.

Continue like that and Everton finish 9 points above them despite the 10 point deduction.

I'd break the bank for Evan Ferguson.

Lautaro Martinez's numbers are becoming more very impressive with each season. Is he the new Aguero?
