Jist of it was Plant blocked them from playing on the undercard of the big festivals zep were playing, citing them as crass and not suitable ( or words to that effect)
The popular consensus however amongst the music journos was that zeps live performances were becoming well below standard and at the time AC/DC were stealing the show and blowing bands away everywhere they played and that was Plants real reason for excluding them.

Their LIVE performances were not worthy of the praise they received... Always thought they were a better Studio band than Live... Whereas AC/DC were the Dogs Bollocks playing Live... I saw them (AC/DC) play on their first UK tour... Small venues of between 200 and maybe 400 size audiences
on a cold wet February night and Every Single person in the audience was like HOLY FUCCCKKK!... Raw ? Yep! But Jeeesuss they Left Everything on the stage... Even the audience were Exhausted at the end of the gig... And so from there on their Reputation grew and Grew and fuckin' GREW!

Every now and then a Rock or Rock related (ish) album used to come along (*) and you'd know it was not just Special but Destined to be a "Classic" and for me 'Back In Black' is one such album...Off the top of my head a few others

Powerage is my fav AC/DC studio album, live "if you want blood" album changed my life, I was a huge fan, saw them in Dublin on the those about to rock tour, sadly never seen them with Bon and I never rated Johnson or any of their later material.
Was never into Zepelin, though my missus is a big fan (she hates ac/dc)
As for albums?
Live Rust, Master of Reality and too many more to mention.
Music now is mostly shit, ruined in some ways by how accessible it is.
There was nothing as exciting as buying a new album on it's release, then rushing home to play it on your record player, album covers too were cool as fuck.
That said the easy access to old material on Youtube is brilliant.
We sit on the living room floor on Saturday nites full of booze and taking turns picking songs on youtube! Fuck MOTD

I never knew Wilko Johnson made an album with Roger Daltery in 2014 "going back home"
Been listening to it every day this last couple of months!
Absolutely superb, especially recommend, going back home, keep it to myself and a brilliant cover of "can you please crawl out of your window"

Did you know it would take just 10 hours to listen to every song the beatles wrote that were ever released or performed!
To do the same on Bob Dylan would take 150 hours!
Always loved Bob Dylan, then having watched "a complete unknown" I started looking more into just how many songs he wrote.
I googled "best 10 bob dylan songs" and found I was getting links to "best 100 bob dylan songs"
The thing is so much of his stuff is pure genius even a lot of his later stuff!
I'd never heard "can you please crawl out your window" until I bought Wilko Johnson and Roger Daltery "going back home" cd.
I also never knew he wrote "make you feel my love" which Edele had cover version hit with.
I don't believe there will ever be another songwriter who can come close to him!
