THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Have to lol at how Wenger has "principles". If he did hed have resigned years ago ffs.
Arsene isn't perfect but...Arsene has "principles" (just ask that rapper chick!).
Hates the wages in football but if course thinks nothing of picking up £8m for himself
Loses 8-2 and refuses to resign. Claims in 2011 that he'd be a failure if he didn't win the league, went on to claim he was "satisfied" with a 4th place finish that year. Claims we've suffered in the CL as he's spent years prioritising the FA cup, ignoring numerous humiliations at Stoke, Blackburn etc.

Once you're hooked and you've drunk the Wenger Kool-Aid, it's hypnotic. Witness the hilarious defences of him!

It's funny how the criticism of Wenger is repetitive. Of course, that's not at all symptomatic of years of persistent failure
All those "mystic megs" who have claimed every year, for the past decade, that as long as Wenger was manager that Arsenal would stand no chance in the PL or CL?...:rubchin:
There's no longer any defence of Wenger left - he had no money before. Now he's gone and spent £100m in two transfer windows and somehow, Arsenal still were nowhere near competing for the league!
The fact that AW coaches the team, decides tactics and drills them, whilst having final say on all transfers isn't speculative it's a fact made clear by the club and Lord Wenger himself
Let's face facts: Wenger has had over a decade to turn Arsenal into a massive club and despite being the 10th highest payers of any sports team anywhere in the world, and despite huge ticket prices, Arsenal continue to be a big medium-sized club. Which is an absolute Disgrace and 100% down to Wenger. He is the one constant in that decade!
Still nowhere near our first CL, still nowhere near a league title, no top 2 finish in over a decade, manager and many fans content to describe CL qualification as "satisfactory".

But remember, the real problem isn't AW.it's them horrible pesky fans with their standards, and expectations! Remember Arsene is like Mother Theresa, a man of principle sacrificing himself on the North London alter (for love, and £8m a year)

Wenger buys, sells the players, agrees thier wage structure, decides who plays and in what position, decides the *ahem* tactics, subs. Picks the medical team, coaching staff. He even attends the board meetings ffs.

Wenger is the constant here, the common denominator.
Not Kronke, Gazidis, the board, refs, Man City, Chelsea, FFP, players or injuries. Wenger alone is the one who has settled for the glory of the "top four trophy" and the riches it brings. And then he basks in the glow of the "genius" tag for qualifying every year and picks up 7 or 8 million for it. Luvley jubbly. Dont rock the boat.

But you Wenger supporters keep franticly looking around for excuses for Mr. 8-mill-a-year if it keeps you happy and then turn on anyone who dares to question him.

you really are tedious

I don't give a toss if people love him or hate him. I don't give a toss if he gets £10 or £10m a year.
I don't care about excuses and I really don't care who questions him.

I'm just getting bored with the repeat and start again bullshit that people on here, you included, can sometimes write. For example, look at what you wrote above. Do you actually know all those things? No, you don't, but somehow you can take totally unsupported bullshit and pass it off as fact then slag anyone off that sees it differently. To think you have the nerve to consider people with a different viewpoint to yours as being brainwashed into believing in the great messiah when you're clearly brainwashed by tabloid journalism and gossip columns! You're a joke and you can't even see it!
When you have zero argument to post, throw a hissy fit and attack the poster.
:barscarf:

And yes I do "know all those things".
Yup seems like an abusive post to me! Mind you surely it couldn't be, as we know how serious and moralistic the likes of Spuddy are on personal abuse don't we now...:rubchin:

That there about suffering in CL due to prioritising FA Cup is one of the most blatant, bold faced lies I've heard anyone spout. And guess what? The bloody disciples didn't waste a second lapping it up.

We all know the contempt with which he treated the FA Cup, playing weakened teams and getting knocked out season after season, all in a bid to chase after the elusive CL. He even went on record saying that the FA Cup was less important than finishing 4th. But, having last season stumbled our way through the competition, eventually luckily coming away winners, and are again in the final this season, he's shifted focus and all of a sudden the FA Cup is of great significance.

The man is one of the greatest shape shifters, surely? He certainly missed his true calling. He would have made a great politician.

Ironically the FA Cup, the competition he treated with such contempt in recent years and de-valued to below the fourth placed trophy is the competition that ensured his 7/8million a year new contract as evidenced when he "announced" he was staying on the wembley pitch.

It's covering old ground but you're right of course.

Still, he won't be here forever. That's the silver lining. In the meantime, I just hope he can piece together a good enough team to compete. Recent evidence hardly supports it, but history is littered with flawed managers who have won trophies with good teams, so there's hope even if it is unlikely.

This is so true.
A lot of Gooners have become dis-connected, disenfranchised with the club under Wengers mis-management. And absolutely every right to do so too.

Dissenting voices at the Emirates can be met with the stewards ejecting you and season ticket confiscation. At aways anti-Wenger banners, voices are shouted down, fronted up and assaulted by those who still support the manager.

So we're only left with social media to vent our Wenger Out! spleen. To have a good old rant and moan............
But even here, even the Online Gooner, an open forum to post discussion and opinion, we have those who seek to silence and censor. We have the forums self appointed "devils advocate" who funnily enough only posts to apologise for and excuse Wengers failures continually posting on this thread only to tell us that hes bored with all the posts........on this thread.

Im Arsenal and Wenger Out! 100% I make no apologies. Not afraid to say it. I dont hide behind "devils advocate" when posting my opinions online or otherwise. Wenger is the single most divisive problem this club has faced in years and has divided the fans. This, unfortunately, whether you like it or not is the reality, and for this reason alone he shoule be gone.......

Do we?

Which Mod(s) are you accusing of censoring your opinions? - I absolutely challenge that.

We delete abusive posts sometimes, and try our best to keep threads flowing by deleting/moving those that are spoiling the threads natural flow (or are simply off topic) but never are posts deleted because they criticise the club or Wenger. I don't believe that for a second.

We welcome varied opinions; it wouldn't be a forum without them. But, whatever your views, you have to stay within the rules of the forum and be respectful of others. From my experience, it's almost always peoples inability to do so that has caused issues.

Augie is a great example here. Negative as fuck (sorry mate   ) but never have the mods tried to silence him. Why would we? he's usually respectful of others and puts his views across very well.

Challange away mate. First of all I didnt say it was mods.
Secondly it doesnt have to be a mod seeking to "silence or censor" dissenting, or anti-Wenger views, just like those Wenger supporters on the terraces who have tried to "silence and censor" anti-Wenger sentiment by being physically threatening. They are not mods either.
So g88ner dont take it personally. What Im saying is that ...do I really have to repeat it?
At the Emerates we no dissenting voices are allowed or there will be repercuttions. (Actually understandable imo). At aways anto-Wenger voices, banners are threatened, assaulted. And now, here on social media we have Wenger supporters telling us its "boring now", so just stop taliking about it.

Got it maTE? :D
