Chelsea could have kept Demba Ba & given Frank Lampard 1 more season, and not bothered to bring in Costa & Fabregas saving probably £40m, and finished 2nd behind City.
But they are not a financial investment company, they are a football club, putting winning the title above building a mountain of cash.
Just a thought.
Impossible for me to compare Arsenal and Chelsea over the last 10 yrs
ones had a billion pound pumped into it the other has moved to a new stadium and is paying off its own debt
just a thought

Well at least compare where we are now to where Chelsea were 12 months ago, Mourhino identified exactly what was required and got them.
AW has ignored the obvious for how many seasons?
Lets see if he goes and gets the 2 or 3 upgrades required to turn us into title winners by this time next year.

If the moneys there and he doesnt spend it and we come up short then he will start to lose even me
We moved to be able to compete with Europes top clubs and the signings of Ozil and Sanchez are the start,,I might be wrong
but hopefully im not

The old 'the stadium move turned us into pariahs' argument never seems to die, does it?

Are the 749865 players they had out on loan part of being a football club? No, they are are full blown shop window.

the problem we are dealing with is supporters like you who are happy with an f.a cup win or two,im not sure how long you've supported Arsenal but most of us here remember us winning league titles in the70's, 80's,90,and 00's.to be 11 years on from our last title success is unacceptable,we are not saying that winning the fa cup is crap, far from it,we'd take it in a heart beat at the beginning of the season but we are Arsenal and we should be challenging all the way for the league, our challenge this season was over by September,do you think that is acceptable for our club our stature??

Of course I want the Arsenal to challenge for trophys Marky
and compare 10 yrs ago at Highbury with 36000 supporters to now with a 60000 capacity stadium and the debt under control
and large profits being made I would think that we are in a better position especially in the current football climate(chavs, city),so the 8 yes 8 seasons that we went without a trophy will in the future (fingers crossed)be looked back at as a small price to pay for where the club is at(top of the league hopefully  )

Where did you get those numbers from? His transfer deficit is fictitious, because in 2010, just 4 years into the stadium move, Arsenal's wage bill was higher than Juve, Milan and Porto. We get was also given a payrise, with his salary going up to the super-elite bracket. That's without mentioning as pointed out by others, the fat contracts to Bendtner (£52k a week), Diaby (£50k a week), Denilson (£50k a week), Song (same), and various other mediocrities in the "socialist" wage policy (you know, the one where nobody ever earns more than Arsene!) :rubchin:

"For me, there are five trophies: the first is to win the Premier League, the second is to win the Champions League, the third is to qualify for the Champions League, the fourth is to win the FA Cup and the fifth is to win the League Cup," he said.

Arsene Wenger, October 2012

But yeah, people questioning it are "moving the goalposts"

Herbert, winning cups is so sign of future success, which is why the likes of Portsmouth, Swansea, Wigan and Birmingham have all won league/FA cups in the last 8 years. Its funny how so many AKB'S use the signings of Sanchez and Ozil as proof that Wenger is trying to win the title, they conveniently forget that the Ozil signing came at the end of a window when our only other signing was Sanogo, while the Sanchez signing as brilliant as he is, was undermined by the fact that we allowed one of our CB'S to join Barca without replacing him(until January). Its rather convenient that those two signings came at a time when the other top 4 sides, and sides outside the top 4 had started to spend big. Wenger will never be able to do what is required to win the tile, and it will be top 4 at best until he leaves.

So you're suggesting that people on here do actually agree with what Wenger said and that's the reason for dismissing the FA Cup?
