West Ham and Everton would have been relegated a few years ago if there was greater strength in depth to the league. This year, scum and manure have lost 21 and 18 matches respectively, neither have 40 points, which was a traditional bench-mark for safety over the years. A league where those types of teams can turn in those kind of performances and be clear of any threat of relegation doesn't really give the impression of a consistently competitive league. Every league sees every team raise their game once in a while but to be able to not give a shit for probably at least three-quarters of the season and have nothing to worry about demonstrates a lack of quality with some teams woefully out of their depths for 38 games. And then we're fed the propaganda nonsense about it being the "greatest league in the world." People laugh at the quality of other leagues but the reality is that the Premier League is a league with a poor overall quality, in my opinion. That's all my point is.
