The 2015 Transfer Rumours Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

So maybe his agent /representative talking up ManUtd to attempt to get a wage increase ?

It's funny because the only reason Coq is in with a shout is due to a crippling injury list - his contract was running down its final few months. If you'd asked any Gooner to name a suitable DCM for the team about a year ago, the name Coquelin wouldn't even have been mentioned - yet here we are, a year later, and he's better than seasoned performers (who've performed over a whole season) like Schneiderlin
This often happens at our club: after playing well for 2 months, Alex Song was the best DCM in the league.
A purple patch for Almunia, and people wanted him as England's number 1
All it takes is a purple patch and suddenly, such and such Arsenal player is top drawer.

So can I ask why the amazing Coq, much like Almunia, has never played a single minute if international football? :rubchin:
Schneiderlin and Kondogbia both play for his country - Coq will never get a look-in before those players. Because he isn't as good.
But hey, what would that guy Deschampa know about a class holding mid eh?

Coquelin has potential. But the point of our club now is to have the finished article - not potential.
Who are talking to geezer?

I think most people here want to see Schneiderlin here.

Also forget Deschamps, he plays Sakho ahead of Kos. Coq will probably get a call up and play some games it means nothing especially when so many of those french players play for average clubs.

Fourth place you will be lucky..... With Man Utd and Liverpool both strengthening there squads that is no formality

Tragic waste of an opportunity to make a long awaited title challenge, basically down to the flaws in Wengers character again coming to the fore
Maybe he decided against him because he thinks we can use the money to get a better player?

Its not for me to name names but it's only June so too early to rule it out.

We signed ozil and sanchez in the last 2 summers so another big signing could yet happen.
You could be right of course - I'd counter that by saying: IF it happens and another big name is signed, would it be for a position we actually Need? :rubchin:
Because when Mezzy Ozil was signed, good a player as he may be, if that money had been spent on eg Khedira, Subotic or Higuain instead, then you can bet your bottom dollar Arsenal woulda come a lot closer in the league than they have these past 2 years?

If the logic is "maybe Arsene is saving money for a big name" then it's logic that makes zero sense.
Schneiderlin is available, he's much better than what we have, he has PL experience and he's at an affordable price. It's a no-brainer.

So if eg Wenger went out and signed Isco for instance...would you be happy with that? Instead of that DCM we've needed for the past 10 years since Paddy left?

Cech's having a medical it seems. I don't give a toss about the exorbitant fee, he's a class act in a position we've neglected for yonks.

You raise some fair points. What I would point you to though, is the incredible fact that plenty of people seem to genuinely think, that Coquelim is as good (if not better) than Schneiderlin. Sorry but that's mental.

Well here's the logic: with Ozil in the team I've seen Arsensl get destroyed 6-3, 5-1 at Liverpool, 6-0 at Bridge, beaten by Moyes' Manure, humped by Monaco, etc.
There has not been a single big game domestically that Ozil has turned up in, and coincidentally, those are games where the likes of Mertesacker have fucked us. Having a better defender who, you know, defends well would have been of more help than a passenger like Ozil (good player he may be).
But hey, if your criteria is "names on a paper" then sure, happy to go along with your logic

He did not do too bad in the FA cup final, he's a class act, end of..... sometimes his vision and passing is sublime, but if you don't appreciate that side of the game, for example you prefer fabian delphi or gary mason thats fair enough.....

United in the cup, Liverpool at home, Everton in the cup last year...those are the ones that spring to mind after thinking about it for 10 seconds.
