THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

If he gives Abou a new deal I'll forgive the brainfarts of recent years

However, we've signed one of the best GKs in the world for 10mil in JUNE!!!, and none of our players went the other way. That does seem like progress.

Schneiderlin or Vidal in July and a top, top striker just before the season starts and I'll be reasonably happy.

FFS you would think that you were supporting a Norwich or villa level of club - we are The Arsenal and are one of THE biggest clubs in the world and should be buying players from the top shelf on a regular basis. Your standards/expectations have been eroded so far that buying a top level keeper is viewed as a reason to hail the wenker
Btw, while I do agree that cech is now the best keeper we have, I do also acknowledge that the reason we signed him for 10m is because he is now 33 years old and is not as good as he once was - yes he is a good signing, but to go into a frenzy suggesting that 10m is a steal is comical imo

Who's hailing AW? Certainly not me. I've said it many times before and I still want him gone, but I am happy that we've addressed a long-standing weakness. early in the transfer window, for relatively little money.
My post was in reaction to the many posters who've been crying out for a top GK, but are now moaning that it's only Cech. Short of de Gea, he's as good as any keeper in the PL. Who could we have bought who's better.

We still need a striker, DM and CB, but we'll be a better team with Cech in the side.

I fear that Cech is not the goalkeeper these days that was almost unbeatable a few years ago. I think he is probably the best one at the club now and hopefully Chesney will learn a lot from him.

I also give it until the end of September before someone on here calls him a useless *word censored* and slags off the club and the manager for signing him.

Pre head injury, Cech was the best goalkeeper in the world no doubt. If we can get 90% of that, I will be happy.

Whilst his stats piss on Chesney and Ospina's I am wary that he had a decent back four in front of him. As much as I like BFG, he is the weak link and we need to strengthen in that area.

Possibly add a striker for a serious tilt at the title next season.

Just want to start another season without getting wound up like a coil about Le Boss but guess that's not going to happen. I can toughen up and overlook quite a few choice Wenger 'things' but what really shreds my head is not putting players on the posts during free kicks. I want our BFG to point at the posts and make them stay there. Remember Flamini a couple of seasons ago getting hold of Walcott's shoulders and plonking him in the box where he should be - great stuff. Hoping Cech will take command of his line and do some post pointing in future because he'll have a red mini bus in front of him from now on.

Good.

Came across as a bit of a knob.

He clearly didn't get sacked for footballing reasons, so probably got sacked for moaning internally about his son's sacking. He probably high fived his son when he found out about the video - he seems the type.

Good riddance.

He would make a very decent number 2 for us..... Can you imagine the sound bites from post match interviews..

The Ostrich had his hand brake on......

I strangled the oppositions player because I have been in football for over 30 years.....

We were a little bit tentative so I told the fans behind me to fuckk off....

2020 and not before...I can se eit now - we somehow by a miracle get to the semi's of the CL in 2016-2017 season...and lo and behold the wig wearer persuades Clueless to stay on - all for the good of the profits Ooops! I mean the club and fans you understand...

Oh God. :|

No offence, mate, but did you also think Song was a brilliant tackler?  Captain Stupid Flamoney waving his arms and yelling at people never once stopped us conceding from a free kick or corner. The fucking idiot would be so busy giving it the large one he'd invariably forget to actually try and intercept the ball himself or he'd drift off the man he was marking (before we went to that zonal chaos shite). How many times did we see him pointing at someone else as an oppo player ran right by him with the ball? The fucking idiot.

I'm all for leaders on the pitch that lead and direct those around them (Tony Adams step forward 8) ) but I can't believe there are still fans that think Captain Stupid waving his arms and yelling and pointing was in some way effective. It wasn't. It was all show.
