Shock Ade Transfer News....

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

That can't be right, can it? That is indeed MENTAL.
70m includes his wages , still mental though .

5years at 170k a week = 44.2 million

that leaves 25.8 million for transfer fee , agent fee , signing on bonus :banghead: etc .

according to the Mail a fee of 25 million has been agreed and Adebayor already had a medical today: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... l?ITO=1490

Ah well. It's done it seems.

What can you say. Are we better off for it? Time will tell.

I'm still scared that it was a mistake

i'm with you. but the point is, in february that year our best striker had his leg hammered (again, eduardo is not injury prone) and our very young team was not experienced enough to turn that around.

i believe in this squad, and i think this is the year of edu9, rvp and AA

I think that it is fair to say that there are a lot of Gooners that are going to be on tenderhooks until this deal is completed    On a positive note though it means that there are a lot more people on here and the busier it is the more I like it 8) At times it is more like a morgue :(

If this cash isn't invested in a player(s) then it will be a nail in our coffin and wengers, and will spell the end of our right to be considered a "big" club. Love or hate him (and make no mistake I despised him) Ade was the best striker at the club and one of the top 3 or 4 in the prem lge when at his best.
His antics last summer and our reaction to them, made his position at the Arse untenable and go some way to explaining his performances last season. We should have taken the money last season and moved on, however we are now a considerably weaker squad for his departure.
All eyes must now be on Wengers next move.
