Its very easy to criticise the players sitting at home in your warm bedrooms/lounges watching the game on your freebee TV channels, or listening to shite commentators spouting their nonsense on Sky/BBC
All i can say is this
1. I was at the game
2. IT WAS FUCKING FREEZING
3. Everton played well above their best
4. Arsenal played against the usual 10 man defence BUT with players who had pace and were not afraid to take a risk
5. Arsenal battled hard, you cannot steam roller every single team at the Ems, and Everton were not gonna lie down after the 1-6 reverse.
Granted Al was awful at times, but seriously guys, its getting really boring reading some of the shite you guys write, i mean when it went 1-2 today the vitroil was pathetic on here....oh how i changes when a goal is scored.
We have tons and tons of pages slagging off the boss, the keeper, the defence, the midfield, the strikers, the board, the stadium etc etc.....why do you bother some of you? Why dont you just fuck off and watch Leyton Orient?
For me, Arsenal were not great today, but today they WON a point in some of the most bizzarre conditions i have seen in a very very long time. A well earned, hard fought point that may go a long way to success this season.
EVERTON HOME GAME THREAD
It seems the majority of people on here are only capable of expressing negative opinions and anyone who says anything to the contrary is immediately shot down with the "rose tinter" bullshit! I'd much rather be a so called "rose tinter" and go to the games and support the team, than sit on the internet slagging off everything and anything!djhdjh wrote:Yeah, wonderful post, anyone who dares to have a critical opinion is not an Arsenal fan and should support somebody else. Everton played very well yesterday and we didn't. It happens! Some of the shit on here about people being glad Denilson is injured and hope he is out for the season is pathetic! You can not tell me you are a supporter of the club in one breath and then wish injury on your own players the next!
I was at the game and also freezing my nuts off. Unlike the 30,000 odd tossers who came and then legged it to their warm cars/trains/busses/whatever before our equaliser.Vlad III wrote:It seems the majority of people on here are only capable of expressing negative opinions and anyone who says anything to the contrary is immediately shot down with the "rose tinter" bullshit! The Verminator had it spot on, the weather had NOTHING to do with that defeat. Landon Donovan is an average player, yet Traore (who was our 2nd choice left back before Gibbs showed his promise) made him look world class yesterday. Arshavin only turned up for the last 10 minutes, correction 5 minutes of the game. I saw a ridiculous analysis from those 2 dicks on MOTD saying Everton stopped AA getting the ball but that was just lazy punditing again. If you watch each of the clips again, AA had a chance to come short into the space each time but chose not to, the ball could have been released earlier as well but wasn't.AA gets away with a lot because ge gets us amazing, crucial goals but it doesn't mean you excuse him when he doesn't put a shift in.
Everton did get into us, but what do you expect that after that humiliating defeat we gave them in August, they'd stand off us and get humiliated again. The players had the wrong attitude out there frm the first 5 minutes, Everton wanted it more and we didn't. Does it not bother you that if they had played with the same intensity of the last 5 mins in the first 20 minutes we may have steam rolled Everton.
You're wrong it wasn't a 10 man defensive wall, far from it, they just made sure they closed us down all the time not allowing us any space. It something we can actually do well when we press teams high up the pitch. That's not a 10 man wall.
No one is actually wishing Denilson ill, but would like to see him dropped because if he replaces Song for the next month we will drop a lot more points. He is NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO BE IN OUR TEAM, END OFF.
We come on the internet after the game because, the players don't all hang out at the Gunners or the 12 pins or the Drayton Arms so we come here to bitch, vent our frustration and let it all out. Yes some people watch it online at home in a comfy sofa, but who's fault is that. I was in a stadium with lots of empty seats yet we are told there were over 60,000 there...how??? Going to the Grove costs a lot of money and yes some people can't afford that, how do you know they weren't fans in the 50s,60s and 70s, who now think watching live football is too expensive...believe me it is.
I am not going to support the O's because I am a gooner

I reserve the right to slag them off when I've frozen my nuts off, spent a day away from my family with my hard earned money and get my beloved team not fighting. It's the lack of a fight we hate mate. We got lucky and robbed a good team of what were a well earned 3 points. It's not hard fought when you only start playing when it's too late.
Topgoon
Couldnt have put it better myself. I am not a rosetinter but i stayed to the end hoping we got an equaliser unlike the 30.000 early leavers. But i give my opinion about what i have seen after the game. And that is my right as a supporter. That doesnt make me any less a Gooner. To me Almunia and Denilson are just not good enough

Yesterday was a bad game. We had no inventiveness in the final third and were probably lucky to get a draw, but it's not as if Everton were peppering our goal with shots and dominating posession. Then you get home after the game and it's like we lost 6-1 and there's so called supporters hoping players are out for the rest of the season.
There are plenty of negative aspects of yesterdays performance, but ultimately we drew. There are too many on here that have been spoilt by years past and expect us to win 3 and 4 nil every week and when we don't, players are not good enough and we should sack the manager! Of course your entitled to your opinion, but there are folk on here that still slag the team when we win 3-0. We are 3 points off the top, having spent far less than any of the teams around us, but thats not good enough for the majority. Unless we win every game and every trophy there will be people on here slating the team and to me thats not what being a supporter is.
I totally agree about people leaving early. What is the point in going? Your teams losing at home with 10 minutes to go, so what do you do? Stay and support them or fuck off and jump ship? Sums up most of our "fans"!

seriously lads, most of us stay to the end and yesterday proved that we almost nicked the game and got all 3 points in the last 5 minutes of injury time. Probabaly our best spell but they didnt show it on MOTD.
that fellaini chap was all over the place cracking down on our creative play in midfield. Everton were very good, we were average. A well earned point i'd say

The weather was the same for both teams.
Everton had far more intent - from start to finish.
Our tempo was slack for most of the game.
Our midfield were physically weak and gave the ball away too often. Everton out muscled us and the ref let them get away with roughing us up.
I optimistically expected that Everton would not maintain the same energy levels thoughout the game and our chances would come. I was wrong. Everton did a good job on us and we weren't at the races.
Almunia, Ramsey, Diaby, Denilson and Traore were below average.
Arshavin was isolated for most of the game becuase we were being pressed back into our our half but like the rest of the team he wasn't trying hard enough. We played too narrow. Crosses and set pieces poor.
We were lucky to come away with a point but at least I was there to the end. I am getting sick of people disappearing 10 minutes before the end.
We were lucky to get a point.
If you think I am going to stand there and say "unlucky lads, keep you heads up" after their second goal then jog on. It was another case of sh1t defending and I let them know it!

Right, I haven't read the previous several pages, but Topgoon post above is quality.
Is it me or is Almunia getting worse?
He inspires no confidence in the fans watching, so what must our defence think of him, and then to give him the captaincy is pure lunacy. I don't think Wenger will be signing a new keeper, so get Flappy in now, at least he comes for high balls, there was one moment a high ball came into the box, in the first half, and it appeared that Almunia bottled it.
Also, our corners are a joke, their 2nd goal came directly from yet another underhit corner which barely reached the near post, surely someone in our team can hit a decent corner, coz Arshavin certainly can't. I wonder if Hadareud can come up with a stat about goals scored from our corners, because I reckon the percentage must be very low indeed.
The only urgency we had was the last 5 minutes or so, and we really missed Song.
Happy with the point in the end because Everton played well, Fellani and Pienaer were quality.

Topgoon, Vlad III & Glitch33, i agree with your posts completely. I didn't go to the game yesterday so i cannot comment on how cold it must have been sitting there for that length of time in those conditions but i have been to winter games when its freezing and i have some idea.
I sat in the warm, one being due to xmas and new year, i had more important things to spend my money on than going to an Arsenal game (my god im going to hell
) but i try to go once a month if i can, usually if tickets are available (being a red member sucks
)
However, people sitting at home do have as much right to an opinion as people who go to the games, some players yesterday didnt pull their weight and we were lucky to get the result we got. I agree some players are not good enough, Traore was awful yesterday and Denilson wasn't great. However, this is the squad we have right now, maybe we might see a new addition or two this month but as always, we do not know. We need to get behind the team, not put it down when we play badly for one game. We have just played an almost perfect month of December (excluding Carling Cup game) a draw at Burnley was the only imperfect momemt for me, but we beat Liverpool at Anfield AND we beat Aston Villa 3-0, a team trying to force its way into the top 4 who have won at Old Trafford & Anfield and beat Liverpool already this season. This team has got something special, i dont think its the finished article, perhaps if Van Persie, Fabregas, Bendtner and co were fit and Song wasn't away this month, maybe we are then. We looked great at the start of the season and were still getting results when we began getting hit by injuries.
Now it frustrates me seeing people on here, even when we win a game very comfortably, stating team is not good enough, sack Arsene, its ridiculous but some people cannot be pleased unless we win 6-1 every game...oh sorry, my mistake, PEOPLE MOANED ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE SEASON BECAUSE WE DIDNT KEEP A CLEAN SHEET!!!! MY GOD, WE SCORED 6 GOALS AWAY AT GOODISON PARK BUT ITS OVERSHADOWED BY THE FACT WE CONCEEDED 1, THIS TEAM IS AWFUL!!!!
I'm probably gonna be told that if i dont like it here to fuck off, I do like it here, its great that everyone can express their opinions about Arsenal and i love reading opinions, but some people on here expect maybe a little too much. We cant win 6-0 every game, take the rough with the smooth and lets see if we can get a trophy at the end of the season, League, Champions League, FA Cup, whatever, lets get behind this team and show them how much we love this club and want it to suceed!

One small point our 2 goals yesterday came from our players having a shot at goals and took 2 deflections you would hope now that our players might think of shooting at goals more often rather than trying to walk them in and not scoring you never know your luck.I think too as wenger said we were closer to losing 3-1 than drawing 2-2 so considering we were off par we would have taken the draw going in to injury time.
One final point and i think frank covered it our defending at corners and taking corners are shocking do we practice these on the training ground at all.Corners are supposed to be an advantage to the attacking team but we are woeful at them.
