Just finished Merson's book.
An Arsenal legend but what a total twat he was off the pitch. Whiney fucking blame-everyone-else fucktard.
Some of it of course was in the tabloids when admitted his addictions but he really gets into the gory details in this book. And what a proper c
unt he was.
He pissed £7 million at the bookies, constantly lied to family, friends and colleagues, fucked up two marriages and had god knows what impact on his kids and all because he is a selfish arsehole. Please don't run that "oh but he was a poor addict" rubbish by me. Fuck that, we can all just quit on our responsiblities, but some of us man up and do the right thing by family and friends.
Some of the behind the scenes stuff at Arsenal and about GG is quite interesting but overall I just felt a fairly healthy dislike for Merse as a human being.
And his "revenge" rant at Glenn Johnson is cringeworthy in the extreme.
If (like me) you thought of "The Merse" as a proper Arsenal legend I would advise not reading this tbh... it will change how you view him forever. It saddens me that I now really dislike a guy that was a hero to me in my late teens / early twenties.

Just reading Eric Bristow's auto-biography.
Stoke Newington boy which makes some of the normally more tedious background chapters more interesting.

Someone looted Eric Bristow's autobiography?

Reading The Stand (unedited version) by Stephen King again. First read it back in the 80's and have to admit I'm really enjoying it again. I don't read that much fiction anymore (prefer sporting, historical and military non-fiction) but you can't beat King at his best.

A Song of Ice and Fire - George R. R. Martin
Consists of 5 books: A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows, and A Dance With Dragons.
Its an adult medieval mythology. Very well written, very intriguing, and most definitely entertaining.

Been trying to source a book which supports the theory that Ruben Carter was indeed guilty of the 1966 Lafayette Grill murders.
I first became aware of the story through Dylans "Hurricane" which I understand he no longer plays, as he himself now doubts Carters innocence.
I've come across a few websites on the subject, but can only find pro-Carter publications.
Does anyone know of any?
