The reason deals are done so late is because other clubs wont sell.

Look at Mertesacker, he has 1 year to go on his contract, his old club would have tried to persude him everyday. Arsenal would have bid 7-8 million early in the window and told NO. When it is obvious he wouldnt sign a new contract they sell.

I for one am really happy - yes i could have been even happier.

This year we lost Denilson & Bendy. Clichy is no longer our worry. And more importantly I dont think we will see much of that ARSHAVING any more.

last year we lacked leaders - That problem has been solved - the average age of the team has risen. We have players who want to win and be part of Arsenal as opposed to cesc and narsi who lost all intrest last year.

What amazes me, is that according to this, Wenger was in Switerzerland at a coaching course. Shouldn't somebody have had a quick word with him and told him to cancel that and deal with the fucking transfer window. This sums up his attitude to the transfer window, that it gets in the way and that a coaching course is more important. With him and spineless Gazidis, it's no wonder we're a shambles on and off the pitch.
It wasn't a coaching course per se  , but an Annual Meeting of the top coaches/managers (inc; Fergie and other European managers) it is an Annual pre-arranged thing - they all attend along with high ranking members of Fifa....Where they discuss and have input into any proposed changes in rules etc...

Us guys have been mugged off again.
Buy fuck all but shite for 3 years then we're all so desperate for something, anything after the mauling at OT we're gonna be pacified by a few half decent signings.

These types of signings should have been done year on year.
Yes they are fuckin panic buys. I dont reckon we'd have got anybody else if the piss poor team he put out against the mancs had of performed even half reasonably well.

Am I satisfied? Fuck no.
I'll be satisfied when that bastard Wenger fucks off and stops destroying our club.

With Bennayoun Liverpool and Spurs were after him.

Just ebcause other clubs aren't looking to sign players doen't mean they're shit. Nobody was after M'Villa bar us, are you saying he's rubbish?
must mean that Messi and Ronaldo are shit, nobody wanted to buy them
Wonderful logic there. Let;s ignore they are both recent World Players of the Year though.

Ok my mistake: Benayoun is as good as Messi. Moving along...

No i fucking am not!! Yes we finally got a defender we've all been telling our great manager  we desperately needed but apart from that all i can see is others rejects.. If Yossi isn't good enough for the chavs then why is he for us? We might have some new faces but the quality has been sold, the lack of ambition at our club sucks... :(

yep i happy, :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: think we might need to get another striker in January

Gervinho, Chamakh off to ACN, Bentdner gone out on loan, RVP will get his usual 6 to 8 week lay off and that leaves us Park and Walcott up front

but Mertesacker is a world class defender, Santos i admit, I don't know much about and Arteta and Benayoun have the PL experience we need, don't think we will be champions, but will be pushing Liverpool for 4th

average signings that wil placate the waverers and beef up the akbs.

may give us a chance of 4th thats all. better than no signings, but not good enough for a club like us, and the fact we've made a profit says it all.

squad is stronger than last year, 1st xi is undeniably weaker.

re oxlade and ramsey.

ramsey joined us over manure as we offered him silly money, around 3 times what united offered. thats the sole reason he chose us.

united did not bid 10million for oxlade. it has been widely reported that when they saw how much arsenal were offering, ie more than 7 mill, they laughed at it and ended there interest, as even a big spending club saw that it was a ridiculous amount to pay for an unproven player.

What you mean top clubs like Racing Santander and Chelsea reserves?
He was very good at Liverpool and popular with the fans there. I sat with their fans for a game at Anfield (mate of mine is a season ticket holder, so I got a free ticket). Ask their fans whether they wanted to let him go?
Lucas Leiva and Rafa Benitez are also extremely popular with Liverpool fans.

Emmanuel Eboue was a Cult hero at Arsenal. I still cannot see your point as to how his popularity relates to his quality?

Silvestre was also popular in the Man United dressing room btw...oh and he had bags of PL experience too.
Leiva is an ok player. Nothing special, but ok. Not convinced he is especially popular with Liverpool fans though.

Benitez won Liverpool the Champions League.

Do not buy your argument re Eboue.
He was only popular with some fans, and not at all popular with myself or most of the ones who write on this Forum.
No one ever suggested his popularity was because of his ability, it was more because of his joking, dancing and his ability to weather the abuse he got and carry on playing in the team.

I got the sense Benayoun was popular with Liverpool fans because of his talent.
He is quiet bloke, not one to be seen tumbling out of nightclubs or giving it large in the press, so there was no sense of him being popular because of his "Character".

I'm with you on Benayoun...i'm surprised at the amount of negativity towards him on here...Granted he's not the ''super quality'' that we would all have liked but he's still a good player...

If he's fit i think people will be pleasantly surprised with what he can do for us, i think he will turn out to be a bigger attacking midfield asset than most of what we already have and at the end of the season we won't be wondering why we got him, but why we have persevered with the likes of AA, Rosicky and Diaby doing a comparitively piss poor job for so long.....
