Good result especially after we were so poor and second to everything in the first 45. And sometimes the result has to outweigh the performance. Job done.

The Song love-in on this thread is hugely naive and embarrassing though. It seems a few people on here really are AKB's and just can't wait to over hype every little good thing a player does. Song is now quality because of one good dribble and chip?! A couple of good tackles?!

No.

Song was awful for the first 45 minutes. Absolutely shite. Anyone that can't see that was not watching that game.

Then he did brilliantly for our first goal so credit where it is due. Beautiful feet and a near perfect chip for RVP. That seemed to fire him up and he actually played quite well for a spell in the second half. Again credit where it's due.

But then he started to revert to form and over-elaborate, misplace simple passes and get caught in posession. And then in the last minutes he decides to dribble off over to the right back position where there is no space at all whilst under pressure from an oppo player. And instead of just row 52ing it he has a little dribble and gets caught and bang they have scored. The reaction of TV5 and Chesney etc said it all. It was a terrible and unecessary fuck up that could've cost us dear and would cost us dearly against better opposition.

This epitimises why Song is not good enough to be first choice DM. His decision making is awful. His over confidence on the ball is a liability. For every good thing he does he ruins it with 5 or 10 bad things.

I thought Song was our best player by far last night, they were all rubbish in the first half, so we only really have one half to judge on.
As for their goal, Song was trying to run down the clock without conceding a throw, if that useless bastard Djorou had gotten out of his way or went up the line and made himself available then the goal wouldn't have happened.

With all due respect sid I can't accept that! What player with even half a brain tries to run down the clock by dribbling into his own right back position?!

Sorry but no - Song had the opportunity to clear it early but decided to billy big balls it and show his "deft" foot work. Can't blame Djourou much, he was stood were he should be, marked by an oppo players and Song comes blundering over straight at him. Where could Djourou go? He panicked and stuck a foot out. I can forgive a mistake like that. But it is the repeated unecessary mistakes that Song inflicts on himself and others around him again and again because of his own stupidity I can't accept.

For me the only person to blame for that goal is Song. Totally self inflicted.

I thought is was a good performance last night. They are a good team and we struggled in the first half because they worked hard and played well. Closed us down very quickly and our passing accuracy wasn't good enough to give time and space to create. That said we defended okay because they didn't have any outstanding chances.

I think at half time they we told to up the attacking ante which created more space for us. I think we defended very well. Kos really put the effort in before he was given a rest and Santos did both attacking and defending well. TV was immense again and the BFG was good in the air. Worry about his speed of movement and thought with the ball at his feet. I was fucking pissed off with that stupid goal because it undid the good work of the starting back four. Song should have lumped it out and Djourou was an idiot.

I was sickened to see that lump of shit D*aby in an Arsenal shirt. C**t!

That was a good win an a little bit of the pride destroyed by the 8-2 loss has been restored as we are the first English club to qualify for the knockouts (and in first place) Maybe we'll be the only English club - we can hope. :barscarf:

DB10 is spot on about Song. He's not a shit player and he has progressed but he is not good enough for us. Too slow in thought and deed and too dumb. Whatever talent he's got in his feet is at the expense of functioning cells in his brain.
Even poor players sometimes do good things.

A quick mention for Santos who was fucking excellent.

Song had his classic 'bad first half great second half' routine which eh appears to do in the CL especially.

Theo is really becoming the player we've always wanted him to be this season. He can still be frustrating at times but he's always a threat.

RVP is just amazing at the moment.

Overall a very good result and nice to have gone through with a game to spare.

I have noticed people on here are very slow to pick up on things.

I said that Santos was world class weeks ago

I've always been a fan, my only issue is he gets exposed at times. Last night he was a lot more disciplined. If he can continue that he'll be fine.

The really disappointing thing about last nights game was the goal we conceded. Yet again the defence just seem to switch off and despite the fact it didnt affect the result they cant continue to have lapses like that.

I'm not surprised that the team switched off, it was fucking embarrassing the amount of people leaving the ground at that point.

ok leave at the final whistle but 5, 10 minutes to go? Hardly great support is it?

in fact the whole evening was an embarrasment, I felt like I was in Germany most of the time. Our support at the Emirates is PATHETIC

I didnt see the 1st half last night (though I was told that it was poor and nobody excelled) but I thought theo was poor in the 2nd half :? His decision making looked poor again and his ability to dribble by players was again exposed as embarassing for a player at that level  Then of course we seen a repeat of his whinging petulance that we witnessed earlier this season - what the fcuk he was even having a go at the lino for that time is beyond me cos the stupid *word censored* had dribbled the ball out over the line again and everybody could see it

Augie,

I have to say the Walcott bashing is getting out of hand now!

If you are going to knock Theo for petulance then you have to do the same for Ramsey whose act of this was ten times greater but there is no mention of that?

Theo has another decent game, got his inexperienced full backs out of trouble on more than one occasion and posed the biggest threat in the first half.

Yes, Theo can be inconsitent and erratic but wide players are like that by nature hwoever it just seems far too easy to focus on the things Theo gets wrong rather than the many things that Theo gets right.

Have to agree weve won the group with a game to spare and they dont bother to hang about to celebrate or clap the players off ffs it looked well shit.
