You may mock by friend but Abou ran the show in Liege and Fenerbahce, not to mention Villa Park when they were actually a decent side too.
When Vela produces in a game like that he might be worthy of equal mention, but until then.........

I will mock mate, because you bring up single games, over a long period of time, where during said games Diaby performed well for part of the game and rarely dominated.
Saying that's what Diaby "does" rather than "did on few occasions" - then yes, mocking will be forthcoming in future.

Yes those 3 games in 8 years where truly memorable
There are countless other games to mention too, but you lot won't give the guy a fair hearing so there seems little point.
I think if he scored a hat-trick against Barcelona it would be down to them having an off day. If he comes back and does a Rosicky it will only be because he wants a new deal....blah, blah, blah.....same old arguments.
Thats the problem round here now, too many people entrenched in their opinions and unable to comment sensibly about a player's perforance. We all have our favourites and we all have a list of players we are less fond of (in my case Fabianski, Vela, Chamakh, Park, Djourou, Ramsey, Walcott and to a lesser extent Song) but if you can't be big enough to admit when a player has done well in a game then so be it. Saying he only performed for part of a game for example - fantastic memories I must say, or should that be selective memories. FFS Walcott comes alive for 2 minutes in a match and is suddenly worthy of 100k per week in certain quarters
I'm the first to admit that I wrote Koscielny off completely, calling him "Ligue Deux" and generally being disrespectful, but I am happy to be proved wrong. If any of the other players I mention do the same I will put my hands up too
And when you see Steve O citing world "superpowers" like liege and fernabache then you know that he is scrapping the arse of the barrel now Think rochdale would be a better opposition

A "superpower" if I remember correctly that had us staring down the barrel of a gun at 0-2 before a certain twinkletoed genius stamped his authority on the game

Ever thought you might be entrenched in your opinions on Diaby? He has had a handful of good games for Arsenal so there really is nothing to base your opinions on!!! Even Eddie McGoldrick had a few good games for Arsenal one of thm being Liege away (a coincidence?)
Im happy to admit im wrong and Koscielny is one such player last season i didnt rate him at all and was very happy to tell everyone on here, this season he has made massive improvements and thats great i just havent seen Diaby play enough and when he does it is rarely good enough. Thats all i can base my opinions on not some mythical vision of what he could do in the future

Oi - I came up with that line on here!!! (And to be fair to me, it was better than any of the alternatives suggested.)

Vela has scored 6 goals in his last 7 appearances. Who is best to have as 3rd choice striker behind King Persie and Prince Poldi next season? The camel, super quality park or the mexican midget?
I Hate Hleb wrote:SteveO, although we're in general agreement about the prestigious talents of 'The Imperious One', if it's fair to only pass judgement on Diaby when he's had 15-20 games in his favourite position, then surely that criteria should also apply to Vela? How many times did he get a run in the side playing in his best position? Yet just like our hero, despite showing glimpses of his undoubted ability, neither the same sort of excuses are made nor similar slack seems to have been given to him.
I just happen to believe that, much like Abou, he wasn't helped by the lack of games and in his best position. I genuinely believe that Vela is a very talented player that wasn't given the opportunity to show his ability to it's fullest. Now perhaps he lacked the 'mental toughness' that players need just to even compete in the PL, but I still think the Mexican wasn't given a proper chance at Arsenal and slagging him off for scoring the kind of goals most of our current players could only dream off doesn't seem fair to me.
Perhaps it was the total over reaction of the Emirates crowd when he scored the goal against Sheffield United that started it, but I found people going ga-ga over the bloke on the back of the odd bit of showboating in low key games. All this "he's better than Cantona" bollocks after 3 Beer Cup games....ok,ok it was sung tongue in cheek slightly I know, but you'd have thought we'd seen the new Messi the way people raved about him. To me he is the equivalent of cricket's 'flat track bully' - loves ripping into the makeweights at on his own pitch, but when you need the guy to come up strong away from home he is shown up for the showpony that he is. When I went up to Stoke in the FA Cup, I thought to myself 'come on then Carlos, stake your claim' and he minced around like the lightweight that he is.
Perhaps in fairness he should have been given more time and it is all about opinions but for me he was always overhyped for achievements in Carling Cup games. When he drags us back into an important CL game or bosses the play in an important PL game in the way that the Great Abou does, maybe then I will consider him more worthy.
Why do you take the Emirates massive seriously anyways SteveO?
According to them at one point Almunia was meant to be England number 1! Song was better than Essien 2 years ago!
According to them, all those pre-season predictions I made about Park being crap (correct), about Gervinho being a fat waste of cash (correct), about being a worse team without Nasri (correct), and most crucially - about us winning f*** all (correct)....errrrm....Oh yes where was I.
Yep, I forgot I have been proved wrong because we went on a superb 'unbeaten run' that has seen the team with a £125 mil wage bill and manager on £7 mil finish potentially, 3rd. Over 20 points behind the league leaders.
Gervinho-23 matches 4 goals 6 assists not bad for a player playing his first season in the PL who got sent off in his first game and has been away on ACN duty
In your ideal world then Mr Babatunde how would you like to see The Arsenal run, on what wage budget and who would you like to see play. You seem to have all the answers I just wish to know what they are please
look we can all agree the forehead is shit and got worse as the season goes o. unfortunately he has no brain in that massive head. sure give him next season but if its more of the smae get rid.
