Sorry but Linekar has always said england shouldn't play 4-4-2 and that we MUST improve technically, but too many at the FA wan't us to keep our traditions of crosses and pacey football.

not a pop at you lot, but we were as bad as Ireland, and Russia and Denmark must be gutted.

Spain would have wiped the floor with that immobile, sideways passing midfield and the slow technically poor attack would have done nothing against them either.

Only Hart and lescott come out of that with any credit.

days like this make me so thankful for Arsenal, depsite our recent troubles :barscarf:

To be fair I thought that glen johnson was outstanding and he isnt a player that I normally rate

Why is it we can't win a fucking penalty shootout EVER? I would rather of seen us lose it in extra time than on fucking pens YET AGAIN!! It's just so heart breaking :(

yeah, he had a very good ten minutes in the first half, but hardly saw the ball after that -like Theo.

we shouldn't forget that was a very poor Italian team - Pirlo aside, they have nobody world class to trouble Germany.

Germany 3-0 or 3-1 for me.

Its 46 years since Ingerland have reached their only final at home of course. The Czechs and Denmark have won more since then.Ingerland are a 2nd division international side

The football England played in this tournament was trash.

BBC news just showed the penalty shoot-out and didnt show the Pirlo penalty.Sums the English media up

Be fair mate...pirlo is a class player and a class guy - you never see him involved in any bullshit or being a c**t on the pitch so give some credit to the guy for his undoubted ability and performance

not much judging by Rooney - by my calculation he had 42 days rest but in his second game he looked fecked after an hour, so how was he ever going to be effective for 120 minutes ?

any other country would have subbed him for being unfit or stuck him on the bench in favour of the only other player in the squad with two feet and pace - Ox.

at 26 he should be able to run all day, but no they pander to the fat chav cos he's 'world class' and this is the result.

that overhead kick on 90minutes said it all to me - he hadn't put a shift in because he was fucked, but he still wanted the glory more than the team win.

world class fat pykie imho.

I think Engalnd were as expected to be totally honest...better even. Im not just talking about tonights game, but where they are in general.

They were never going to win it, and it was more a last horrah for the so called "golden generation", and hodgson working with what he had and the best he could in such little time.

Idividually very good but as a team poor. But I feel Hodgson is the rite man to get more out of them with time. But they have to be realistic, the next world cup aim for the quarters at very best, and the euros in 2016 should be the aim, but the youth prospects need a go, and not just the name players....

Must also add, Sid cop on man!!! No need for it and very fwank esque attention seeking

Oxlade-Chamberlain should have come on instead of Henderson.

Rooney looked sluggish all tournament.

I know he had not played for a while but surely his training could have had specialist exercises to minimise his ring rust?

Theo looked good tonight for his short spell, though did not get the ball enough.

Cole (penalty miss aside), Johnson and Terry were good.

Gerrard and Parker battled.

Hart was OK, justified his selection.

Young had a poor tournament.

Wellbeck has talent but I felt he played too deep.

Carroll is basic but offers some threat as a sub.
