Last year we played well and lost, this year we play well and draw so we're slowly improving. We should've won but apart from a defensive disaster for their goal and Gervinho reverting to type we played well overall.

Kos for me should definitely be ahead of Verm.
yep, a better defender and has as much technique and quality with the ball in his feet as vermaelen, even if he's not as dangerous. not that i don't like vermaelen, he's top class, but he makes his fair share of mistakes (like the penalty against montpellier) while kos and the BFG are more solid defenders.

Delighted with that point. Fair play to Mertesacker - I have slammed him on here but he was fantastic today and for once Sky gave MotM to the right guy. The Steve Bould influence is there for all to see. The midfielders controlled the game too. Ramsey's best game in the shirt for a long time, maybe ever

On the downside we've seen yet again that our truly awful back up keepers will cost us points time and time again. Wenger - please please please get rid of fucking Mannone and Fabianski. And Gervinho was back to being last season's player again - why does he feel the need to beat the same player 3 times over and as for his finishing.....truly awful. His first touch on that through ball from Ramsey in the first half was fucking League One standard.

Sadly I think as usual if the board and Wenger had shown the ambition to sign a decent squad keeper and another striker, we'd be genuine title contenders as opposed to settling for 3rd or 4th

Great team effort today though

We've went from having the best striker in the prem to having no striker. WTF is that all about? :(

Anyone still want to criticise Mertesacker? Head and shoulders the best centre half on that pitch today. I had originally typed 'best defender' but that accolade has to go to Jenkinson who was fucking immense. For me he was the motm today and if he keeps up this form then Sagna shouldn't be getting back in the team.

A brilliant, brilliant result but still tinged with frustration that we retain a couple of glaring weak links in the regular starters of the side. Ramsey is half a second short to everything, both mentally and physically and Gervinho's shooting technique is worse then mine, no exaggeration. Diaby I thought was disappointing today also.

I think we're still someway short of a title challenge but to go away to the champions who have barely dropped a point at home in years and play the way we did makes me all warm inside :barscarf:

Though I'd never be quite as idiotic as to suggest he's the "best player in the league, Cazorla is currently along with Oscar, the two most enjoyable players to watch in the league. A truly excellent player, bags of technique.
Possibly so far, the best new foreign signing to watch.

Interesting that people are rating Ramsey's performance so highly. I've seen him play worse for us don't get me wrong but he still seemed a half-second off the pace of the game at crucial moments to me

Actually thought we were going to sneak it towards the end but 1-1 a good result :barscarf:

Jenko was my man of the match but the BFG was great as well. Didn't actually realise how fast Jenko could be when he breezed past Garcia who had to ruby tackle him.

we looked so hard to play against today - many many citeh attacks snuffed out by the disciplined two lines of four - i was disappointed by OX being lifted for Ramsay but to be fair, the solid back four and the coverage in front of them gave us the springboard for a lot of quick counter attacks and going forward Ramsay and diaby, and jenko and gibbs were quick controlled and direct.

that was Jenkinsons best performance in the red n white imho.

pod worked hard, and he was looking tired when he was subbed as was Diaby. the subs didn't do much apart from lifting the teams spirits for the last 20 when we looked like letting it slip away, passes were going astray etc.

kos looked like he's never been away. which is nice. Santi was superb and unlucky not to get one today.

my only grumble is that the zonal marking at corners is still giving me heart attacks. yes Vito shouldn't have come for the goal - but it was the fact we didn't win the header that let the goal in. zonal marking is pants.

great save from Vito from the free kick - that kept us in the game and made up for the goal imho.

1-1 at the champions and i'm disappointed. times are a changing.

though we MUST get three points against Chelsea to stay with the pack.

I swear Santi knows where every single player on the pitch is stationed without looking. :barscarf:

Best technician in an Arsenal shirt since Dennis...

Good point, although we were probably the better team I still didn't expect us to equalise and a point at Middle Eastlands is nothing to be sniffed at given their home record. Bit frustrating because they were there for the taking today, but a point all in all is a very good result.

Thought Gervinho did okay in general play, but obviously spurned two brilliant chances without even nearly testing the keeper. You just can't do that against teams like City and it arguably cost us two points. Thought Ramsey had a very good first half but flagged a bit in the second, and as mentioned above Jenkinson and Mertesacker were immense, but to be fair we were solid all over the pitch. Annoying decision to bring Walcott on though, wasted possession in some good areas that Chamberlain would have done better with.
