As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

what's not going to happen? Us signing a striker...?
I'll take a hefty bet we will.
Wasnt saying we wouldnt buy a striker, but just to clarify for you we will not be buying neymar llorente or falcao. We are linked with a guy called lopez from some team in spain in todays papers.
I think Neymar would make us the most watched team in Brazil
in 2014 when we renew sponsorship deals I think we could recoup the fee in a Brazil based uplift
it is a huge and growing market.
I think Neymar should want to learn from a manager who helped the careers of two of the best strikers in history.
I don't think he merits a place in Barcelona or RealMadrid's starting XI and that his career would suffer from not playing.
I am trying to make a case for us signing Neymar.
There's no rumour, it doesn't belong on a rumour thread
Read an article in 1 of the papers last week or week b4 JD, where pele advised against any english club buying neymar because in his opinion neymar wouldnt make it in england, i only glanced at the article did not read it in detail so there could be have been more to it.

we should def buy Neymar - there's no greater recommendation
Neymar won't leave Brazil before 2014, he's got a ridiculously high star status he wouldn't have anywhere and makes £6.5mi/year here, on 27% Income tax rating. Tbh, I don't he think he would fit in the Prem, he can't stay up for his life.
he would have to change to fit the Prem
but his game will have to change if he goes to any European Club
will be harder if he goes somewhere he's not even guaranteed gametime...
cant compete on the wage though - I guess the equivalent would be £180k a week...
just depends whether he has any interest in moving to Europe
The only chance we have of buying anyone of note in January is if we are looking really desperate for a top four finish, as we did when he signed Arshavin, having lost 5 games before Christmas. That is a possibility this year
However, if its a case of Chelsea, City and ManUre over the hills and far away but still tucked in nicely in fourth then you can expect the same pathetic comments about 'prices being too high in January' and how difficult it is to integrate a new player into the squad halfway through the season
We know how it works in this business model by now don't we. Only ever invest if it looks like the precious 4th placed trophy is in danger....if it isn't then keep hands firmly in pockets, inflict self harm at every available opportunity, throw a party when we scrape 4th on the last day, then make a nice transfer profit in the Summer before repeating the whole sorry mess all over again
I think we will definitely sign a striker
because:
1- 4th place already looks in danger
2- if we don't win a trophy before the end of this contract I don't see Wenger signing another one
3- Gervinho will go to Africa
4- looks like we could sell Walcott
I think we need 2 forwards TBH - maybe Henry on loan to fill in for Gervinho

If all of those things happen then I agree with you, but if Everton lose today then we are 3 points off the 4th placed trophy and could still be within striking distance of it come January. Henry will cover Gervinho almost certainly. Walcott could still end up signing a new contract and Wenger will say that the masterplan to convert him to a central striker is in place, and that Bendtner and Campbell are ready to come back stronger next season
Nothing this clown of a manager does in the transfer window surprises me anymore. Even when all the logic is stacked in favour he revels in the self harm of taking the contrary view
