Yes there were. But I hope you'll agree I wasn't one of those who rubbished Arteta. I love Arteta and its also great to have a hard tackling somewhat dirty DM like Flamini in the squad too. Wouldn't you agree?SteveO 35 wrote:Plenty on here who were rubbishing him barely a week ago buddy......too slow, not strong enough etc etcarmchair supporter wrote:SteveO ....

Remember, Just because I prefer a true DM like Flamini in the DM position doesn't mean I dont rate Arteta and absolutely doesn't make me an AKB or turncoat wanker.
Got it? Good.....
Didn't see him lose a tackle today, proved that upper body strength more than compensates for diving into tackles like a headless chicken and played a great role in the first goal. Man of the match - absolutely immense and we're lucky to have such a consistent player

Mr Ligue Deux MOM again.

Re: Home against the mousers
Great result especially for all of us who had to suffer Liverpool in the 70s and 80s. Just tuned into Liverpool TV and they reckon they should have won
Re: Home against the mousers
Arteta MotM for me.

SteveO I really don't understand why you're trying to point score, who you're supposed to be scoring points over or how Arteta's performance today changes the fact that Flamini is a shrewd signing? I also don't understand why someone who about half of his post over the past year had been dedicated to slagging off Giroud and Koscielny (I think it was kos too although that could have been babatunde) in just about every thread would want to crow about player predicitions?
Onto the game and I thought we were very good, Kos and Arteta were the standout performers BUT i think it was a good thing that they had a near perfect game because our defending left very little margin for error. It definitely looks churlish to criticise our player of the season so far who scored a screamer today but imo until Flamini is back Ramsey needs to be more disciplined, especially away at Dortmund and United. We can't afford to keep having so much of our midfield caught ahead of the play. It's up to Wenger now to have a word with Ramsey about the next two games because if we leave Arteta isolated against better sides then Liverpool I think we'll have problems.

Yep, I would agree with that. In amongst our war of words I did concede that Flamini had been doing a decent job.....I just thought a number of people were writing off Arteta prematurely and I'm delighted the bloke is still showing the same attitude as when we first signed him. Now't wrong with a bit of competition for places (Arsene - are you listening? You should still sign a FUCKING STRIKER !)armchair supporter wrote:Yes there were. Close between him and Mr Ligue Deux but I thought Kos was exceptional and didn't give Suarez too much to work with.Sam59 wrote:Arteta MotM for me.![]()

Re: Home against the mousers
Thought it was a third rate performance for 55 minutes, and then once we scored the 2nd we were comfortable. This table-topping clash will be a 4th placed trophy clash in the return fixture - actually they won't be near it by then.
They are so so so very average. Even when in promising positions there's just no link-up between their two strikers and the rest of their team, the only time they looked threatening was when either Sturridge or Suarez dropped deep to receive the ball and ran at the space. And when they tried to remedy that by bringing on Coutinho they fell apart because the rest of their team is far too weak to support two strikers and a midfielder with a free role away from home against a good side. Toure was a carthorse when we got rid over 4 years ago and Gerrard and Henderson at no point looked like getting to grips with the game.
Koscielny did have a good game but pundits seemed to overlook the fact that he got caught a few times and could have been punished. Thought Arteta was absolutely superb - he was asked to play the same role as Flamini is and he bailed us out on a number of occasions in the first half and generally read the game superbly.

No doubt they'll say
"Weee wuzz Robbed" - It's usually others that say that after the scousers have been to town!

Re: Home against the mousers
Flamini has been a shrewd signing.....other than when we actually first signed him I don't remember saying that he wasn't? I just don't think we should automatically write off one player just because another one signs for us in that positionLDB wrote:SteveO I really don't understand why you're trying to point score, who you're supposed to be scoring points over or how Arteta's performance today changes the fact that Flamini is a shrewd signing? I did get things horribly wrong about Koscielny and Giroud......I don't think I'm alone in that department though? As I said to Armchair originally I'm happy to be proved wrong and usually one of the first to say if I was. I don't get anywhere near all my player predictions right, happy to admit it
Perhaps those that were slating Arteta would be gracious enough to come out and admit they were hasty too and give the guy credit for an immense match today??????

Re: Home against the mousers
You were far from the only one to slag off Giroud but there is a difference between the reservations most people had and you who would crowbar all that "hod carrier from montpellier" stuff into just about every thread, but whatever.SteveO 35 wrote:Flamini has been a shrewd signing.....other than when we actually first signed him I don't remember saying that he wasn't? I can't remember anyone slagging Arteta off. My view, and I stand by it, is that when everyone is fit (
