I wrote this on the 19th of July
As we are doing the "augie" I wrote this on the 24th July;
I think a few people might be missing the point a bit here. Certainly the club lie to us all the time, but I don't buy into they made Chesney say this shit to appease us the fans, simply because the Board don't give a flying fuck about us the fans. Chesney is just a gobby fucker, always has an opinion, always wants to be interviewed. He was most likely asked about defensive training and he just gave HIS opinion on it, albeit careful not to rock the boat and get himself dropped. He's hardly likely to say "Aw yeah it's still a bit shit at the back" is he?
What concerns me is the ammount of REAL impact Bouldy might or might not have. Bouldy is very much a Wenger man who won’t rock the boat - I think even his biggest admirers can admit this after reading a few of his previous statements (and by the very fact that Lord Vader appointed him!).
Hugely important then is where Bouldy comes from as a coach. All the youth teams he was involved in play tippy tappy in the same style as the senior team (as is club policy since Arsene took over).
Sure, having a club-wide style of play was not a bad thing in the days of Henry, Freddie, DB10, Pires and Vieira (when that style was fast aggressive attacking football played on the break at speed – with great protection of the CH’s by top class DM’s) but now that our sub-Barca version of tippy tappy has been proven to be shit for us, it’s worrying that the entire club still plays it.
So I’d imagine an emphasis on tippy tappy will still result in the ethos of solid defending being almost an afterthought in the greater scheme of things, no matter how much work Bouldy does. Our defenders are pushed by Wenger to distribute the ball, to play out of trouble - it's as if the more old school methods of defending (for example; Row Z-ing the ball in an emergency) are frowned upon as "beneath" us, and they probably are frowned upon.
The whole ethos at the club is pass at all costs.
Hopefully Bouldy can at least help them with basic stuff like positioning at set pieces etc but I’d be very surprised if he has any more impact than Pat Rice did.

WTF would he earn if he wasn't at Arsenal ? I can tell you ...............not a lot !
No other assistant gets anything like that in football cept maybe at MUFC or Chelsea , few managers get that in the premiership let alone assistants who will be lucky to earn 200 K per annum .
To think that he would resign over the issue is ridiculous in the extreme !
Don't people have an personal dignity anymore - be it Wenger 'standing up to the Board for more cash' or Bould 'standing up to the manager' over how the defence is organised? If you're not happy with something why would you persist in putting up with it when you have the choice or power available to do something about it? Does money truly trump principle every time?

Exactly right. Bouldy would be shouting into the void between Wenger's ears anyway because he sure as hell won't be taking advice other than which washing powder we should use to wash the training gear with
Steve Bould was one of my favourite Arsenal players in the George Graham era. Totally committed, no nonsense, hard as nails and bloody effective in the best back four ever to play in the English leagues.
I loved his first or second minute thunderous challenge on his opposing centre forward, followed by an apologetic wave of the hand and a "whoops, sorry ref - mistimed it . . . . . " It was designed purely to unsettle his oppo and let him know "Whenever you get the ball today mate, I'm gonna be there" We need a few like him today.
BUT - I'm losing respect for him by the day as he appears to be having little effect on the defence. All is clearly not well between Wenger and Bouldy and if he's not being allowed to do his job, Bouldy should tell Wenger where to stick it. I'd always imagined Bouldy as a principled bloke but I can't help thinking he's there for the money at present.
BOULD "Er boss, I'd like to talk to you about my coaching role"
WENGER "Zut alors, how many more times - just put ze cones out and shut ze f**k up"
If the "Bould effect" has not been felt at this point, then it's not going to be felt at all. I can only speculate, and it seems a bit biased, but my feeling is that Wenger has a very specific training/practice regimen in mind and that will not be changed regardless of defensive poorness or set-piece fuck ups.
Further to my recent postings on this ,things are more than fractious in the fields of Arsene, where once we saw the king chippy play !
As exclusively reported some time ago by the Daily Twit (me) Arsene has been looking for a replacement for Bould for 2/3 months but Steve has only heard of le profs treachery in the last week and whilst hes is highly miffed is digging in to see what shit happens next.
Prof is trying to play down this by saying that he needs a chief scout come admin buffer between him and the much hated gazidis and they are searching for a title ,technical director ,whatever .
My sources are not in the wenger cabal so its only speculation its either Remis or Gilles in line.Gilles prefers being the agent and just creaming the money so the money is on Remis !
Steves coveted role as cone distributor could come to end sooner than we thought !
Meantime le prof is playing the interest from others card to ensure he gets a bumper pay rise when stan comes a knocking to renew the contract .................TODAY !
Yes, It Could work..But Wenker won't allow Bouldy to Coach our defence, something he is more than capable of doing....However, what I find worrisome is that Bould MUST have known what the form was before agreeing to become Assistant...so WTF!? Wenker just doesn't trust anyone to do anyhting without his keeping a firm grip on all that goes on...Because he's a dictator who allows no interference in his 'Project'.
Time for baldie to step up or fcuk off - I dont give a flying fcuk if that sounds harsh but he is as culpable now as every other c**t involved with this team If he feels so passionate about his job and the club that he has had two arguments with wenger over his lack of freedom to coach, then why doesnt he walk ? If his principles are so important that he stands up to the most powerful dictator since saddam then why doesnt he follow through on them publicly by resigning ? What is he contributing on the sidelines ? He sits there every single match chewing on his nails like some homeless guy that hasnt been fed for a month - does the c**t eat anything before he leaves home on matchday ? He sits there motionless and silent like he doesnt give a fcuk and I'm sorry but if you aint part of the solution then you are part of the problem
Time to man up bouldie.......either stand up publicly or fcuk off now
‘’I don’t buy the stories about Wenger not allowing Bould to work with them. If the three clean sheets were down to his work, why would any manager deliberately nobble his own team?’’
It’s a perfectly good question. Yet he expresses it in a way as though it is a ridiculous thing to ask.
I think it’s a very valid question and one that should be put to him directly. As time goes on it looks increasingly likely that Wenger's reputation is far more important to him than the interests of the team. And that his love for himself and his own philosophy exceeds everything else. Including how much he 'loves for the club' ... something we're often reminded of by those who still back Wenger.
Wenger was clearly irritated at the praise Keown received for our CL run in 2006 and 7 years later what's changed? Quite frankly, after all this time, what other explanation is there other than Wenger being an egotistical maniac ?
Just by remaining at the club he is sabotaging us. Putting himself first as always. Does he really beleive we wouldnt be better off right now with an ambitious young manager who has some fresh ideas?
Is it so difficult for arseblogger to comprehend that it may be possible for a dictator (I use this word to reflect the overall power and influence of the man) to eventually become so obsessed by their own ways, belief in themselves, to the detriment of the required outcome, that they may start doing things which appear to be sabotaging their expressed objectives.
Unfortunately, lessons are not learned from history and most certainly not from the last 5 years or so at Arsenal.
Arseblogger is another guy that has allowed himself to get too close to the club and now can't see the wood from the tree's - inside club sources and prizes for competitions seems to have led to a situation where criticising the club and wenker in particular is very much a no no When any person puts themselves out there for their opinions to be heard (be that as a tv pundit or a blogger and everything in between) then credibility is a key issue - if you cannot see/recognise the serious problems then it raises real questions about your ability to assess what's going on and if you can see them but refuse to comment on them then it raises serious questions over impartiality I remember a few years ago he was very outspoken about his dislike of DD and his opposition to usmanov which is of course in line with club policy
Just listening to 5 Live. Reporter has been talking to players/sources and it's official. Bould was doing defensive drills at the start of the season hence the clean sheets. Then Wenger stopeed them and went back to small sided tippy tappy drills.
Fuck off Wenger now please. You don't own our fucking club, you're finished. You're a dictator who's ruined your legacy. I've forgotten about 1996-2006. Just go now
