The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

thats been one of our weaknesses - not enough service for Giroud in the air.

Jenko, as much as i like the guy doesn't seem much of a crosser either.

I am going take a guess here that they don't practice crossing :banghead:
When Jenko inherits the No. 2 shirt you'll be taking back your statement that he can't cross.

He's crossing is quality and I KNOW HE'LL MAKE IT AT ARSENAL. :barscarf:
I tend to agree. :barscarf: But it wouldnt take much to improve on Sangas ability to cross a ball with any degree of consistency.

We ALL want jenks to 'make it' at Arsenal, but just because he is a Gooner and has all the required passion and determination won't make it so.

I just hope he does make it as the passion and care he plays with would show up some of the lazy *word censored* in the team who do not always turn up...are you listening santi, arteta, ozil !??? :?

Moaninho doesn't seem to want Lukaku. Would he be a better option than Remy and/or Giroud?

Can't think of a better replacement for Sagna than Coleman. Great right back, solid defensively and a menace going forward.

I think Coleman would be a great signing - clearly can play in the PL, seems solid enough defensively (especially for his age), and an actual threat going forward who won't turn back whenever he comes to a defender and won't hit the first man every time.

But can you see Wenger spending 15-20m on a full-back??? No way, and that's what it will take. It is a lot of money for a full-back but imo definitely justifiable when you think it would be that position sorted you'd say for probably 7 years. As I've said before Wenger will probably look to sign somebody in his favoured 6-10m bracket, rinse and repeat once or twice and in 3 years we'll be rotating Jenkinson with a poor player whose only claim to be able to play at this level is he's a bit less of a train wreck than his predecessor. A la Monreal.

What you really need to say is 'Can you see Wonga spending 15-20m on a BRITISH right back!!??

I'm sure he would be willing to pay that much for a Frenchman.........

Coleman has proven this season he's great but we've got Jenko and Wenger is never gonna splash £15m+ on a fullback
He panic bought Monreal for £10m as Gibbs was ruled out for 2 months just before the January deadline last year so thats an exception.

If Wenger thinks he's not good enough we'll get someone better. :barscarf:

We ought to be focusing on getting Javi Martinez and Thomas Muller. We get both for £50-55 million and we're done.

I personally would be shocked if Müller left. Local boy, been at the club his entire life and would survive longer at Bayern than Pep will. His national team place isn't in jeopardy if Pep doesn't play him.

I don't understand why some people think his crossing is quality. What is this based on, him crossing the ball in for Bendtners goal against Hull? Lets be realistic, we need to go out and buy a proper RB, not wait for a player with limited potential to develop.

Stranger things have happened.

Pep is guaranteed to become Bayern's coach next year and he obviously doesn't rate Muller for his tika-taka side. Gotze has effectively replaced him in the side and with the addition of Thiago they now play sometimes with an extra centre midfielder and with Robbery being guaranteed starters then it's looking really bleak for Muller.

On top of the arrival of Lewandowski...
