Can't see how anyone could find a negative in that display.
Not sure who is finding a negative? Only that some people on here seem hellbent on spending the night saying "nah nah nah nah nah nah, I told you so" when someone had a decent game. Seems like we can't enjoy a victory first.....

Not talking about you mate, I just seen people were having a row over the game.

Should be no ill feeling on a night like this :barscarf:

Bellerin's burst of pace in the 90th minute to set up the Ozil goal was absolutely frightening. The guy is going to be a superstar, I just hope it's with us and not Barca. On the defensive side he will also have learned an awful lot up against the awesome Douglas Costa. I think it's fairly safe to say Debuchy's Arsenal career is dead in the water.

What a performance tonight. I generally don't get excited by the CL but I think tonight was bigger than a mere CL game. It was testing ourselves against one of the best teams in Europe and against a team in great form and we came out on top. The fight that was in the team tonight was incredible, they kept pressing and showed pride in the jersey. A great night to be a Gooner :barscarf: on a sidenote, anyone watching on TV3 tonight, couldn't believe the shit Souness came out with after the game. Tried everything he could to fault the performance, wonder if Liverpool had beaten Bayern tonight would Souness be looking to pick holes in their win.

Giroud's best sub performance of the season. Will start this weekend against Toffees. Team played well, worked their socks off - great result. :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

there were a couple of occasions last night which illustrated why Ozil Is never going to be a headless chicken ala Sanchez,it looks like hes running in treacle, got to be one of the slowest players ive ever seen but what he lacks in pace he makes up for in so many other ways, the guy is class just wish the haters could see his good points rather than bashing him for not darting about like a flea.he is always going to play like hes not interested but that is just Ozils way,he has lead boots, leave him to do the nice stuff :barscarf:

Brilliant team performance. And in fairness to Wenger he got it right. If we had gone toe to toe in an attacking passing duel with Bayern we would have lost. Sitting deep, with excellent positional discipline (mostly) and popping the odd one over the top for Theo to chase was the way to go. Theo just running at the Bayern CH's had them nervous and they seemed reluctant as a team at times to really get into our box, fearful of that pace on the break. Theo didn't play that well but his presence and running served us hugely.

Nacho was brilliant again. Not many LB's can put Müller in their pocket. Think augie is being just a tad harsh on Bellerin tbh. He was up against a seriously brilliant player in Costa and I thought he did well. Also that burst and muscle in the 90+ minute to set up Ozil was fearsome.

Cech showed his class and cool. Flawless game. His best save was the one with his elbow, happened so quick the commentators though Kos had got a foot to it but the replay showed Cech stopped it. Just pure brilliant instinctive keeping.

I thought Sanchez worked hard again but he gave away 3 really bad balls whilst over-elaborating. He looked drained when he came off. Maybe another rest called for?

Ozil was class. A calming intelligent man to have in a midfield constantly on the back foot. Some of his passes were sublime. Santi too, on the back foot for 70% of the game, but worked his guts out and gave some top class passes.

Special word for augie's idol the Big German Pussy. He was brilliant. Yeah, the game suited him, but credit where it's due, he looked like the Mert of a couple seasons ago. 8)

Giroudzema had a huge impact when he came on. It's been said before that Bayern's central defence doesn't like it on top of them and Giroudzema's physical presence upset them. He did what a striker should do for his goal, play the percentages and get in where it hurts. The fact he scored with his face and his hand shouldn't take away from an important goal! :D

The only weak player for me was unfortunately Rambo again. Yes, he worked his arse off running but he just cannot stop pissing possession away needlessly. In a game where we needed to limit their possession him going off with a hammy was actually to our advantage.

Also, anyone that can't put the Wenger hate away and enjoy a legendary victory needs to go get some fucking help with their life. :x

Speaking of which, where is Moron-hio's rent boy? :rubchin:

:D

Cant comment on his contribution for ozil's goal, but other than that I am amazed that so many of you are bigging up bellerin's performance tonight   Costa absolutely tore him a new one (especially in the first half) and make him look like the inexperienced kid that he is - I absolutely believe that he is gonna be a top player for us (if we keep barca away from him  ) but nights like tonight should serve as a reminder to us that he is still inexperienced and not top drawer yet, and should be allowed to develop without any unrealistic expectations

As for green/inexperienced players, did anyone notice how easily coquelin was by-passed tonight ? No doubt that he was up against some top quality midfielders, but he isn't at that level and should be the back up DM to a top quality DM

Have to say that I was surprised by BFG's performance tonight - of late his lack of pace has really started to catch up on him (that yellow on Saturday was woeful  ), but tonight (especially in the first 20 minutes) his positioning and interceptions were crucial.

Overall I have to say that I really enjoyed the game (at least the first 70 minutes of it  ) - it was great to see two big clubs go head to head without any of the cagey bullshit that is so common nowadays 8)

Btw does the other result help or hinder us ? :?

Had the same problem Augie,it seemed to be 3 HD,lucky enough the TV in the other room isn't HD supported ,missed the 1St goal .
No such problems on BT HD bitches. Although I did have to look at Lineker :x  and Pig Lips whose pathetic half beard is making him look more and more like a Muppet!

Games like tonight suit Mertesacker perfectly. His positioning and reading of the game is good so when we sit back and deny teams space his lack of pace isn't exposed and BFG usually looks superb.

Delighted for him.

Yes more to Metersecker than meets the eye, i have been a critic of his lack of pace, but he reads the game well, and had Kos next to him covering, but that said the whole defence were fantastic, Bellerin and Monreal put in world class performances, against quality opposition

MOTM - Mesut Ozil, silenced the critics saying he does not turn up in big games

That was fantastic ,Bosch Bashing at it's greatest !
Only negative was that brain dead Pratt OX who left Bellerin with 2 people to mark and went chasing schoolboylike the ball inside and over the other side too !

If you think he isn't going to work out then surely you believe he is not good enough and therefore won't succeed :?

Just saying

History is littered with signings of top quality players that just haven't worked out at their new clubs - the stand out one for me isn't an Arsenal player but veron who was truly world class in his day but just didn't work out with either manure or the chavs for whatever reason. Sometimes a signing doesn't work out and it has nothing to do with the quality of said player (player/family don't settle in with new club/area, different dressing room chemistry, tactics not suiting etc etc) so having concerns about a signing not working out may not necessarily be a negative reflection on the player
