If every summer I told my missus I am confident our car will get us to down to St Ives in Cornwall without need of little bit service, or improvement and I certainly don't think we need to spend any of our large surplus of cash (hypothetical) and invest in a new car, and every year it broke down on the A30 just as we passed Newquay would she eventually lose trust in my promises?
Yet how many of us mugs still believe Clueless when he says this current group of players can win the Premier league?

A car analogy without mentioning the handbrake truly is a missed opportunity.

Whatever happened to that gem he unearthed 12 months ago who scored 4 in the 5-1 thumping of Benfica?
Don't believe the hype.

After giving oaf Giroud a £130k a week deal, I see Wankcott has now been given 4 years on £100k
It truly is, comical. Wenger is deliberately wasting cash on mega-deals, just as he did with Bendtner and Denilson; meaning cash that could go towards new players is overspent on mediocrity. What has Walcott done to deserve this deal? Done his usual "play a good few games when contract renewal is up"? Utter joke!

Still. A 6-0 goalfest today and 4 goals v Tactics Tim's Villa are further proof of needing nothing. Just as Sanogo's 4 goals last summer proved

Comparing Walcott to Denilson and Bendtner :D :D :D :D

You've surpassed yourself on that one :-P :-P :-P

Wenger did excellent in getting rid of that lazy c£nt Podolski and more than happy for his wages to go towards retaining the far more consistent Walcott.

Walcott is consistent only in his injuries and his inconsistency, oh, and is his ability to flatter to deceive for the 10th year at the club.
I do not get why anyone with eyes and a brain, and the ability to form words and then express them to a human being, believes that Walcott is anything other than an atypical modern english player.
I grant you, he can run quite fast, but I do wish he'd work on the basics like, you know, trapping the ball, controlling the ball or at the very least, taking the ball with him when he sets off on another doomed run where he will probably misplace a pass or fail to beat the goalkeeper.
If such inability to do anything particularly well, constantly be injured, and believe that you are better than you are, gets you rewarded with such ludicrously high wages, then no wonder so many of us are frustrated by him.
Having a couple of games where you look capable, at last, and getting picked for England - I'm not sure this is much of an achievement over the last 20 odd years - does not warrant half a million pounds a month. Or does it??

Het, don't slag off Walcott. The rest of the premiership is so scared of his pace, the back off and he inadvertently creates more space for the other players in the team.

Not claiming he's world class but he deserves an extension in my view.
Especially when you see hiw wengers wasted money elsewhere.
His salary is set by the market. English players at that level are in short supply.

Quite, we may not think Theo is consistent enough, or produce the finish to go with the run etc but (and it is a big but) in todays market Sterling was bought for £49m and is probably on £150k p wk  so Theo is getting the market rate.

Walcott is a very marketable England International, who if sold would easily get the figures other clubs throw about at average players let alone the £250k that Rooney / RVP were on.

Podolski was rumoured to be on £100k a week when he signed 3/4 years ago. If Giroud's reported deal is accurate :banghead: then Theo is value for money at £100k :box:

Anyway, means we can sell him for a big fee and replace him with "top, top, super quality" next summer rather than him walk away on a free.

It's all bollox, anyone spare a fiver for an old ex-leper ?

Rooney has won 4 titles and a CL and is the first name on Utd's team sheet. He will break Utd's scoring record and Englands scoring record. What the fuck has Walcott done in his 9 years at Arsenal? Be fucking honest. His last contract and this one will amount to £40m in wages.Just think about that 40 fucking million.Being quick doesnt make you a good footballer. We might as well sign Usain Bolt.Walcott is the epitome of average

StuartL wasn't comparing Theo to Rooney though was he? - their salaries and careers couldn't be more different so it's bloody obvious Rooney gest paid more than double what Theo is on.

What StuartL was saying is that Theo's new contract (around £100k if you believe the Mirror) is probably around market value with all things considered.

Yeah great move Arsene on Podolski!
By the by. Who was the genius manager that spent £12m on him, and have him wages of £100k a week? :rubchin:

It's like taking a dump on a car bonnet and then lauding yourself for having the foresight to clean it up
