THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I am surprised that Wenger hasn't added a quality holding midfielder, centre back and striker as of yet.

Sanchez was a class buy and I thought Wenger had changed his ways.

Maybe you will do some good business end of the window?

Wenger will never change his ways, but we also know 9 times out of ten the top players never move until all the posturing is done and dusted, as is the case with de gea & possibly benzema, ironically benzema missed reals game today, injured apparently!

In the last three summer transfer windows, Wenger made a fantastic signing; ozil, Sanchez and czech.

He's had his poor buys (what manager hasn't??) and he's stayed loyal to players for too long on occasions but it would be nice to read some credit on this site.
The silent majority of fans in my view are supporting him.
I'd love him to extend his contract.

Jose starting things early.
I really hope AW doesn't rise to the bait. Which club had a financial fair play fine in the last two years??

Perhaps the one that hasn't spent what it earned for the best part of a decade now. It would also be interesting to see how much Moaninho spent at RM, of course he didn't buy the title there did he.

One thing that gooners should take from this, is that we have spent big over the last 18 month but we still want a well run solvent club.

I really do not see signing the Chelsea reserve goalie as a "fantastic signing".
in fact we are probably worse off overall in this position now as both Ospina and Chesney have gone.
look at what Chelsea have now - Courtois and Begovic - both arguably better than Cech 2015 version.

it is truly remarkable that we have not bought a single outfield player when the season starts next week.
ok we had a good win in the Cup final against Villa (likely to be relegated this season) but I also saw Arsenal play Swansea and Sunderland at home in May and anyone who saw those games knows full well we are going into this season short at the top level.
Arsenal are what they have been for the last decade - a very good side but not good enough to challenge for the top honours.

I find it difficult to "give Wenger credit" for signing a top keeper when he so deliberately and negligently treated that very position with such contempt for so many years.
Telling us Almunia was "world class" and making him captain. Flappy ffs?

But the Wenger supporters will still hail him as a genius for addressing a position he should have sorted years ago.

He doing the same shit with the DM and striker positions now.

Moaninho isnt feeling the heat.....he's just trying to bluff le cock into not buying anymore players. He knows that wenker would hate to be seen as a manager who bought success, so he is hoping that le cock will then try to show the world that he doesnt need to buy a top quality striker or DM to win the league and do you know what, it will probably convince le cock not to buy

Have to agree with this, we sign a veteran keeper probably his best days behind him and suddenly we are going to win the league
Bearing in mind Ospina did not do a great deal wrong last season

Top quality DM and Top striker and could be in the mix, but that won't happen

What I find very fustrating is how gooner's whilst they won't admit it are pretty much in awe of mourinho. Not one poster has even close to calling the geezer a *word censored*.

I respect him for all he has acheived, but as a human being he is a turd of the highest proportion.
