Shrewd signing this for United. He outscored Cavani last season. The defending in the PL isn't great and considering hes played in Italy and Spain he's smart enough to score. The 4 goals he scored against England were against Shawcross so Stoke will be easy for him. It's also his standing in the game. A much bigger global star than any player in the current United squad. Rooney will struggle to get in the team.DB10GOONER wrote:At his age, and given where he's played up to now, Ibrahimovic will struggle with the pace and physicality of the PL. 5 or 6 years ago? Yeah he'd have nailed it. But at 34 (35 in October)?? I'm very very doubtful. He's an arrogant trip-wire too. How long before he gets sick of not being the superstar, because there's no way he'll start every game in that league at that age, how long before he gets sick of getting kicked and pulled by Stoke/West Brom/Wham defenders and over-reacts?
He'll get a couple of great goals sure, no striker goes insta-shit overnight, but he will not be the big dog in the PL.
Oh, and he's a total cock.![]()

(a) cavani wasn't an automatic starter last season and (b) cavani was played out of position on the wing to accommodate ibrahimovich

As a guy who isn't totally sold on higuain, can I just say that right now I would sign him up in a heartbeat - personally I would prefer a more mobile speedy centre forward than him, but if we are not going to play that way or are not looking to buy a speedy striker, then we should be buying higuain cos as sure as shit he is a million times better than giroud
I think the optimists had better get their heads around the probability that we wont be signing the much needed quality striker - there are some pedantic fools out there telling us all not to panic and that the transfer window only opened two days ago, but the reality is that there is a dearth of quality strikers out there and the one's that are available are buying snapped up fast. If we stand back and allow ath madrid to sign higuain, then somebodies head should be on the chopping block straight away

Yep. Pre-season training starts on Monday and where's the old *word censored*? Still in France working for a tv channel. That is not right . That is a dereliction of duty. How can he possibly be focusing on Arsenal when he's doing another job? I say it every year and nothing changes, the state the team is in under him, the glaring holes in the squad and the lack of leadership, means that he should be using every single minute of the summer to identify and sign players and work with them on the training ground. It's disrespectful to the fans and the other players to see him do this every year. Yes, they'll trot out the Xhaka signing as proof that things are happening, but that's not really the case is it? Nothing has happened about a striker or a centre back and there has been no change in mentality. Send s message out, but the players you need early and do you know what, buy two of each one, but a few gambles, take a chance because the money's there and it might just change s few people's perceptions and give the club and fans a lift. After 15 years or more of shit transfer windows, I think we're entitled to expect more than this.augie wrote:As a guy who isn't totally sold on higuain, can I just say that right now I would sign him up in a heartbeat - personally I would prefer a more mobile speedy centre forward than him, but if we are not going to play that way or are not looking to buy a speedy striker, then we should be buying higuain cos as sure as shit he is a million times better than giroud![]()

Which I interpret as the now departed manager Laurent Blanc saw ibrahimovich as the better striker.augie wrote:Nos89 wrote:Shrewd signing this for United. He outscored Cavani last season. So thats it then the 2 or 3 players wanted by Wenger.....a Swiss midfielder and a guy from Japan that no one has heard off, both small....
Still NO Striker, NO Centre back, No replacement winger for Wallcot so we can get shot of him...this is getting beyond a joke now

And bruce rioch felt that john McGinley was a better striker than wrighty.......opinions are subjective. I could also point out that psg got rid of blanc cos they didn't think that he was doing as well as he should - hardly a ringing endorsement of the guy

I thought we were supposedly signing him a few weeks back?!
This could be a long summer.

So, it's looking like yet another transfer window down the shit pipe. How many is that now? Still, at least after this one he's only got the January window left to make a complete bollocks of before we can all wish him a giant FUCK OFF next summer.
