THE WENGER THREAD
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Absolutely correct, that one-on-one with Valdes will haunt him forever.
Shall we go on to Le Prof's selection of Center-backs to lead us to glory?.

Henry bottled in every final he ever played in his career.DB10GOONER wrote:hmmm... like what? That one on one with Valdes still haunts me today, I was down on my f**king knees watching that

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
that was the beauty of Wrighty,if you needed a massive goal when the pressure was at its most stressy you would put your mortgage on Wrighty to deliver and he always did, kind of bugs me that Henry(love him to bits, dont get me wrong, for me the best player to ever wear the red and white) totally eclipsed him in the eyes of the modern day gooner when in his time wrighty was a good as henry without a doubt what so ever, had it been wrighty in the CL final we would have wonIW8Goalmachine wrote:Henry bottled in every final he ever played in his career.DB10GOONER wrote:hmmm... like what? Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Possibly not - that goal in Madrid was class and Henry was immense home to Juve - but did nothing in the semis and even with Wrighty instead of Henry that side was still more than capable of beating Madrid, Juve and Villarreal.Bendtners Drinking Buddy wrote:If it had been Wrighty we wouldn't have been in the final
Henry was absolutely devastating and in the grand scheme of things you'd pick him every day over Wrighty (or just about any other player) but you would have put your house on Wrighty slotting that chance away.
On a side note IWWW8 has always been and will always be my favourite player. Broke the mould.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Don't agree. Wrighty scored massive goals throughout his career - and often playing with inferior team mates. Before DB10, PV4, TH14 and those top class players arrived there was a spell from 1992-1995 where Wrighty was almost winning games single-handedly at times - as in, we would stutter around doing fuck all but defend and then he'd get one chance and BANG it's 1-0 to The Arsenal. I think Wrighty at his peak in that 06 team would have thrived.Bendtners Drinking Buddy wrote:If it had been Wrighty we wouldn't have been in the final
There's no denying Henry was massive in that CL run but he absolutely bottled 2 sitters in the final that Wrighty would have scored every day.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
So Le Gimp said at his presser this morning that the injury picked up by Welbeck last April, that initially was meant to keep him out "only a matter of days", won't see him back in action until mid September at the earliest, 5 months later
Coupled with Rosicky being out crocked until next year at least all's well with the medical department
In fact I saw a stat today that said that John Terry at 34 years of age played more minutes last season than Wilshire/Walcott/Rosicky and Welbeck combined have played in 3 years!
The Abou Diaby medical wing of the training ground is earning its keep.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
For all this talk of Henry bottling the '06 final, a couple of points need addressing:
Our goal came from a blatant dive by Eboue, scratch that and we've nothing to defend. The second point is Almunia was fucking appalling that night, which didn’t help.
Lastly, Wenger crippled us by hooking Pires once we were down to 10 men; we were on a hiding to nothing as soon as Jens was dismissed.
'04 was when we collectively bottled it; in '06 we had a puncher's chance, at best.

Blade:
Why not save yourself some time by simply posting a list of every single player ever signed by Wenger and typing “they were shit” randomly by some of their names?
PS: you have omitted Luzhny.

Christ, I swear that our medical department is actually a portal to some pre-Crimean war battlefield hospital, replete with doctors with shit-on-their-hands infection control and sundry doses of leeches.
